nuisance txts that cost £1.50 and who are they from

    Mrs U
I got a text sayign that I'd subscribed to their service and would be charged £1.50 a month unless I texted stop to 88101 or called 08444485440. I know that I didn't subscribe to anything so I knew this was a scam.
I've just called my provider and discovered that by updating my Facebook status via text (using 32665) I was actually subscribing to the service as it is part of a third party application. I'm now going to look into this because I have been updating my status via text for some time now and was not aware that it was done via a third party. This has either been going on from the start or Facebook have changed the ay they do things, yet another reason why I'm hardly on there nowadays.

    I'm basically echoing what's above.

My facebook account was temporarily locked for security reasons (?) and i had to put in a code which they sent me in a text. At the same time i received the code i got a message which said the following...

"FREE MSG>Ur Guddeez membership is live, U could win an iPad, question coming soon. Play costs A£1.50 / month. To cancel txt STOP to 88101 Help? 08444485440"

Of course i text stop because i had no idea i was signed up to this, haven't got anything else from them yet. If the message was indeed free, then that's not the end of the world, but the point is that they should not have sent it.

It's obviously connected to facebook in some way. Luckily the account i use is just to mess about on, so i'm not too bothered if it were deleted. I really don't like what they're doing though, and i'm glad i don't have enough friends to warrant having a personal account.

I had this message from 88101.

I have no idea where it may have originated from but I'll keep an eye on my GiffGaff PAYG balance. I have not sent or received any texts from them before. Furthermore, I've been overseas for the past year, and I have a Windows phone.

I have several charges from 88101 and now I realise it's to do with facebook. Are they allowed to steal monies from my phone account without my knowledge? Is it facebook or my phone provider that's at fault? I will never trust either company again and never log into anything using facebook again. It's a disgrace that they haven't explained these charges.

I've received texts from 88101 and have been charged £7.50. I've never logged into anything using Facebook and have never updated my status via text. Giffgaff takes no responsibility for allowing this money to be taken, but finally sent me a link for 'not allowing' premium texts. Also when I long press the text - without opening it - it offers 'app info'. The first line in this app info is 'Always allow' but there is a very small corner triangle to show a menu where you can change this to 'Never allow'. Hopefully this has solved my issue and I hope this will be of help to others.

I've received texts from (supposedly) Free Message Guddeez 02039165965 AllModComs. a number of times and tried to block them. Phone is old one only used for texts - no internet so not Facebook connections. Message this time says I'm subscribed for £3 per month and they definitely took the money as message from provider confirmed. Asked to text 88101 to stop but not keen. Anyone tried it?
