The 1-888-111-1111 (or others like this one) is extreme fraud at the highest level. They go by names like Kyle, Lisa or Craig and never give you a company name. They want your personal information (especially your social insurance number). The best thing to do is ignore these calls. There have been times when victim  have pick up and pressed numbers as the record message states, and received very large phone bills.

These scammers use these numbers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and numerous other countries. Best get use to them until the Federal Governments stop them. If we all ignore them then hopefully they will stop (or fall and break their own necks so they cannot dial a phone anymore).

Keep calling land and cell phone numbers. Do not press any numbers. If you answer and hear a recording hang up. You could end up with very costly long distance charges from Nigerian or some other country.

Sometime the number is for credit services, other times is is to use you phone number for long distance charges or to steal you credit card number(s) or other personal information.

If you decide to answer and press the number they ask you to press, ask them what you full name is (including middle name) or what address are you calling. They will hang up as it is a scam (not much different that the computer scams. Remember, protect you personal information at all costs.

NEVER GIVE THEM ANY OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION (AND THEY DO ASK MANY CALLERS):

    1. Your name (they do not have it until you tell them it)
    2. Your address
    3. Your other phone numbers
    4. Your Bank name or Credit Card names
    5. You bank account or other related information
    5. You Social Insurance Number (or any numbers)
    6. Your employer
    7. Or any persona information.

Believe it or not, Many people from around the World give this information hourly. Do not be fooled. If you think this is a call from your credit card number or bank, then ask them for a number for you to call them back on. If the area code is not the same as your bank or credit card location, then ignore their initial call.

Also, phone the bank you deal with directly and tell them about your call.

On the back of your credit cards there is a phone number to contact about your credit card information. Tell the person who is suppose to be from your bank that you will call the number on the back of your card for security reasons.

I got the 1 888-111-1110 call on my Bell mobile number.  Automated Recording. A warning that this is the last warning...error has been made on my credit card interest and I've been paying too much. I think they identified themselves as "something" accounts, but don't recall. It was probably the MCS Accounts that was mentioned by others.

Anyway, at that point, I hung up.

I got two calls from them.  First call, I selected the option to "stop calling me.".  Second call, I accepted that I had a credit problem.  I told the person to remove me and she promptly hung up the phone.  I'd like the third call to be my own and let them know that this is uncool.  Anyone know how maybe we can talk to someone who heads this scam?

My caller ID (on my Verizon phone) showed up as 1111. The automated message said my bank account had been the victim of some kind of fraud...but the bank they mentioned wasn't even my bank! I hung up.

Calls from 888-777-5544 for two days, no one says anything, then today they spoke. Foreign speaking, verifing my name, address and cell phone number to which I had to answer "confirmed". They gave the last 3 digits of a credit card that I don't have, and said I am being sent a gift card from walmart and verified a local walmart address. Then proceeded to say I have two more gifts, magizines, and a cruise. I said I was not interested and hung up, but I did veriify my information so I hope and pray nothing comes of it. Stupid me for not just hanging up at the begining.
