Got a live call from this number today. The caller said it was from California Services regarding a debt and said the call would be recorded. She then asked me to verify my DOB; I declined and stated I am not aware of any debt. She said she could tell me nothing about the debt unless she was sure she was talking to the correct person. She said she would "send me something then."

I keep getting the phone call and when I call back they say they don't have my phone number on file
but I get a call at least once a day. How can I stop them from calling me

Someone has suggested printing some large size Avery labels using a Word template with words and a picture saying that oral sex is available from their number, on the basis that turnabout is fair play.  

Why shouldn't they receive harassing phones calls too?

I forgot the rest of the story: stick the labels in every public bathroom possible. Over time they will come to the attention of the authorities and will realize that their phone harrassment scheme is not without some risk.

I totally agree!! We should file a class action law suit for invasion of privacy or something similar. There should definitely be a law against this unwanted crap!

I received a call yesterday but didn't pick up the phone.  They left a message and said they were a debt collector from the "California Service Bureau True North AR" and to call back and left their number: 888-224-5557

Today they called back and left another message. I called back and did *67 to block my number.  I was put on hold, then a young lady came on the line.  I said, "I am returning a call.  I don't know what this is about or why I'm receiving this call, as I don't owe any money."
The lady said "OK. Let me put you on hold and I'll get your account ready."  I don't know how she would "get my account ready" when I had blocked my number and I didn't give her my name either.
I listened to happy "hold" music for about 3 minutes.  I was about to hang up, but she finally came back on the line.
She said "Are you calling about the account from this phone number?"  I said, "Yes."
Again, I don't know if she could see my phone number or not - she never mentioned the telephone number.
I am guessing it was just a line, or perhaps they have that spoofing tool where they can unblock phone numbers.. (probably)
I said "What is this call about?  I googled your number and I have read online that this is a scam number.."
She goes "Oh no, Ma'am, this is not a scam number, we are are a real company!!!"
Then she asked, "What is your name?"  I said "Peggy"  Then she goes "What is your last name?"
I said "Why are you asking? Don't you have this information?"  She then goes, "Oh, I need to look up this information to confirm it's you"  So then I gave her my last name. (DUMB)
Then she goes "Ok, What is your date of birth?" At this time, I KNEW it was a scam, so I said, "I will not give out that information on the phone" .. She replied "OK, that's fine.  Thank you very much!"  and then hung up.

If this was a REAL DEBT COLLECTOR, they would have the information about my full name, amount of $ that I owed, and would have other information such as the name of the company whom they are collecting the debt from.
Of course, I don't have any debt, so this is definitely some kind of scam operation.
And, she was very quick to hang up when I said that I would NOT give her my date of birth.
Don't be fooled into giving out your personal information!!!  Debt Collectors do not operate this way and would NOT have given up on me when I told them I would not give my date of birth.. .RED FLAG, LADIES And GENTS.

Sorry you are wrong.not a scam just a real and sleazy collection agency. They sPecialize in collection of unpaid medical bills. They get lots of calls from people just wanting to know who they are. Your number probably was blocked and that's why she questioned you for your name and birthdate. I think the majority of those calls are from people who do owe the money.  How could you expect them to have all your information when you blocked your number?

Place a complaint on Donotcall.org - - which is quasi government agency.  If enough complaints, perhaps something will be done.

I don't answer numbers I don't know and I don't call them back. You shouldn't either.

California Service Bureau and True North AR are the same things- different names for the same worthless collection agency. They are bottom feeders. Report them to the Attorney General, BBB, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Autodialers are illegal - report them!!!!

I did this months ago, but the calls keep coming. It is my cell phone, and they go to voicemail when I reject the call. (Maybe I did this wrong, not what I intended.) It was about one call a month, but now I get multiple calls a day. Guess it just encourages their machine when  mine picks up.

keep getting calls from this same number and no one is there.  so, i blocked their number using caller id blocker.  they keep calling, but the called id blocker is working and hangs up on them.  i finally the number back from a different phone and they want to verify who i am they ask for my name, number, and DOB.  well to hell with them.  i've gone through ID theft twice already.  not giving out [***] to any one.  i owe no one nothing.

These calls are rude..person is rude..grrrrr

Why do you call and hang up?

Receive a call from this number multiple times a day and even this evening(it is Sunday). when a message is left it is just dead air. I am fed up with them calling my cell phone.

If they are calling your cell number, you have an option to block this number. I have been getting a call from this number about once a month. No message left, so I will block them. Problem solved.
