This is Bank of America consumer fraud protection division.

I called Bank of America directly at 1-800-732-9194. They confirmed it was their Card Services and transfered me over. After being connected they did ask me information to verify my identity. Simple questions from my credit report. Things like, do I have a car loan? Do I own any other credit cards? My current address. Etc. The reason for their call was because I had recently moved and so when I filled out the credit application my new information did not match my public information. They were just following up to protect my identity.

If you did not apply and received this call, please at least call Bank of America directly to take care of this. It is legit and someone did apply for a card in your name. Ignoring it can lead to bigger issues down the road.

While I was waiting on hold I checked my application status with Bank of America. It showed up as pending. After calling Card Services at 1-888-231-6262 and answered their security questions; my application status with Bank of America on their website changed to processed with my application result.

Definitely scammers.  Who ever is saying this is legit BoA is part of the scam.  They are getting very sophisticated.

I walked into BoA locally and they confirmed this is a scam!!!  Block this number!!!!

Great, except it doesn't work. I called customer service and because I do not yet have a card number and my SS# is not on file, they can't help. then got them to transfer me to the fraud dept, but the same thing happened. n one has any information.

I called Bank of America to verify if it was one of their fraud departments, they said no.  Most likely a fraud. Gave us a A reference #

Total fraud. They are trying to take your money. Just talked to B of A to confirm.

I was confused about the validity of this number so I walked into the BofA and the manager verified it by calling and having the guy on the other end verify her employee number.  When I called it back he said that someone had used my identity to apply for a BofA card.  He did not ask me for any secure info (ssn birthday, etc), but blocked the application and put a fraud alert on it.
He also had a list of companies that the thief had also applied for credit at, and now I have to make a police report, and call them to make sure no one has received credit in my name.  I received calls from BofA and Chase as well.

The day before, since searching for this number, I put a credit freeze on my account via Trans Union, so hopefully I caught it quick enough.

If you get a call from this number (1-888-321-6262) and are unsure, PLEASE go to a local BofA bank branch and have them verify the number!! They'll call it and tell you it's from their fraud department - CALL THEM BACK because you have been the victim of identity theft!   The bank manager has info about identity theft to help you protect yourself.

If you get a call from this number, at least get a report and credit freeze via one of the three credit reporting agencies, Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax - see them at www.annualcreditreport.com  You can legally get one report from each per year for free!

Scumbag bank info phishers even leave positive ratings on these web sites.  Always call the number on the back of your bank card to report or verify bank fraud.

Legit. I called back with the reference number they gave in a voice mail and they pulled up my bofa application for credit card I applied for. So this is legit.

It’s a scam don’t tell them [***]. Bank of America customer service number is 8007329194 if you must verify.  Or look at their website.

It's legit. Bank of America verifying an application for Alaska Air credit card. They have the info so you don't have to provide any of yours.

Got a call from this number and verified simple info like name, address, email and other lines of credit (like yes I have a discover card kind of thing). They didn’t ask for SSN or banking or account numbers. They then told me they were sending my app off for review and I questioned them why because I already verified with BOA that I was approved. The guy simply stated “yes I’m sorry you’re right you are approved.” BOA stated they could not verify the number as they have many numbers but said it sounded like these individuals were phishing for identity info but stated not to worry since I didn’t give out sensitive info.

This is NOT a scam. It is Bank Of America's Fraud Department calling to verify a credit card application. In my case my ID was stolen a month ago and that person has been trying to obtain credit cards in my name. Their callback is also 888-230-6262
