I have been getting alot calls from them in the past week or so and I too have no card with them. I did call them to get them to take my number off their list and talked to someone in person. The trick is you have to keep saying "Operator" when they ask for the card number, then also when they ask for social security number. You will have to do this 5 or 6 times. Do not give them your ss# whatever you do. This does sound like a scam.

Banana Republic is part of Old Navy and Gap.  If you don't have a Gap pr Old Navy card, it may be from BR...

This is GAT Credit Services.  It is a computer dialer and canned message.  They are calling to collect a debt.  In my case, someone I don't know lied on a credit app and forged a phone number that just happens to be mine.

If you keep hitting zero, you can reach a human being.  In my case, they removed my number from their database...especially when I told them that I don't have a business relationship and do have my number listed

I just called the actual Old Navy customer service number from their website and spoke to someone to find out who this company was.  She told me that GE Services is the finance company for Old Navy/Gap.  Turns out I am late on my September payment.

I'm sorry, but to all the people saying this is not a scam...no credit card company should EVER ask for your social security number no matter if you're late on a payment or not. You are all perfect targets for people like this.

888-248-3182 call me 3,4,5,6, sometimes 7 times a day. I called them a month ago to tell them i'm not the person they are looking for. the woman said it would take a few hours to be removed from the call list. that was a month ago!! and they are still calling me multiple times a day. i am on the phone with them right now talking to someone by the name of Adam Williams who also said he has removed me from the system. I asked to speak to a manager and am now on hold - we'll see how long they keep me on hold...its already been 9 minutes.

UPDATE: After asking to speak with a manager, they put me on hold with them for over a half and hour. When Adam Williams came back on the line I told him I was not going to get off the line until I received an email from them stating in no uncertain terms that my cell phone number was removed from their system. Then he put on hold AGAIN. When he came back he offered me a mailing address that I could write to complain. I AM LIVID. I don't want a stinking mailing address. If they have the technology to call me 5 times a day, surely they can provide me with written proof that they've removed me from the system. It's now been 37 minutes!

UPDATE: AFTER 4O MINUTES, I was finally able to talk to a manager. His name is RONNIE WILSON. If you receive these harassing calls, CALL 888-248-3182 and press the STAR KEY until you get to an operator. Then ASK FOR RONNIE WILSON. We'll see if it actually works this time. In the meantime, DONT SHOP AT THE GAP OR ANY OF THEIR AFFILIATES!!!! THIS IS HARASSMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received a call from this number this afternoon. Voicemail said it was Old Navy and that I could return call or go online.

I have never had a Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic credit card. I haven't been in any of those stores in years.

    Laura,

Cancel all your old Navy, Banana Republic, etc credit cards. Potential for identity theft and other nefarious deeds is a danger. Good luck.

This person is correct. This number is of GAP Inc. Credit Services, GAP Holdings' debt collection agency. THIS IS NOT A SCAM. It also does NOT mean that you, specifically, owe GAP any outstanding money. If you really feel as if they're calling you in error, it is possible that GAP could just be trying to reach someone that had your number previously. That was my situation:

I used to receive calls from this number 5 times, daily. They were looking for a couple that had defaulted on their payments and had my phone number before me. In fact, I have been receiving other wrong numbers that were intended for these same people, from other unrelated agencies (which verified for me that this isn't likely a scam). I called them back at 1-888-248-3182 and actually pressed '0' at every input, until an agent answered. The star key may work also; haven't tried...

While they were "unable" to transfer me to any supervisor without me first supplying them with personal information (which I refused to do), I merely asked them to blacklist my number from their outgoing correspondence and explained the situation. Took all of 5 minutes for me actually.

It's going on a week later now, and it seems to have worked. Hope this helps.

Not a scam. They're probably trying to collect from someone who had your number before you.
