message said to call this number 888-251-6057,this was a letter i got in the mail

I received a letter with the following letter head:
MORTGAGE AUDITING PROGRAM, DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES
and a Notice Expiration date.

It asks me to call 888-251-6057 and reference a case number in the letter, RE: MORTGAGE AUDIT NOTICE.  It recites the original amount of my mortgage and says I may be entitled to a refund due to miscalculation of monthly mortgage payment.  

Return address is 10808 S. River Front Parkway, Suite 300, South Jordan, UT 84095

I never call  I knew it had to be a scam but I'm sending copy of letter  to  AG in CT.

OMG! Miscalculation of monthly mortgage payment? This simple calculation has been in use for years and years and years. The mortgage papers are generated by the bank's computer that uses a programmed equation to do the calculation. Programmed equations are typically checked against manual calculations so the probability of an incorrect calculation is vanishingly small. Homeowners can also run the same calculation for FREE using any of several loan calculators on the net. To suggest that the monthly payment may be miscalculated is absurd. This suggests AMT may be changing tactics and abandoning the audit lure and focusing instead on the 30to8 Debt Software that addresses "refunds" or "savings" that can be had if you prepay principal (pay more than the stated monthly payment). Can you spare the time to type up the letter verbatim?

BTW, while your letter states "DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES," the real name of this new entity is Consumer Home Services LLC and only created on 02/16/2012 https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=8232724-0151 but it's really a DBA (see that "Company Type: DBA" in the second line?). You can use the "Business Search" link on the right side of that page to search for who their Registered Agent Double Rainbow LLC really is. You'll find the scammers have created a nest of companies Consumer Home Services LLC, Double Rainbow LLC, Chance 1 LLC, AMT Auditing Services LLC (not a LLC but a DBA) and Enlightened LLC to get COLTON MOODY's and MARK SULLIVAN's names off certain registrations, and to distance Enlightened from AMT. The use of vague-but-sort-of-true names like "Division of Consumer Services" prevents consumers from finding any information on them because they're bastardizations of their real registered-business names. AMT used to use "Division of AMT" on their letters to victims and there is no Utah business registration for "Division of AMT," ditto for "Division of Consumer Services." All designed to mislead and prevent consumers from checking them out.

Here is the BBB report on AMT http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/loan ... ork-ut-22302183 with F=FAIL rating and 47 complaints with 40 failures to respond. They now have yet another new company name "My Consumer Auditing" at the bottom of the BBB report. There are no Utah business registrations for CRM Ventures LP and My Consumer Auditing so these are fake entities.

I did not think that the letter was for reel ( real) but you never know. Thats why we have google. I get calls and letters atleast once a week with the true figures if my mortgage. Why don't they put thease people in jail.

I was all excited when i got this letter,however the more i looked at it,i knew it was bullsh----.I called and spoke to some clown that could hardley speak english.It was all going so,so then we need to charge you several hundred dollars! WHAT!!! then i said i will give this to my lawyer,and go from there.Guess what he hurried and hung up.I am tired of being ripped off! I hope none of you guys are associated with select portfolio serviceing,if you are send me an e-mail huntron55@yahoo.comI cant condone how human beings can and do stuff like this to people who are allready being ripped off to the max.Thank you for your time.

Hi all,
I received the same letter , telling me that I may have thousands owed to me. I always google things first to find out the scoop. Thanks for all the information about these scammers. I knew it wasn't legit but still like to check things out. I will never understand why some people insist on preying on innocent people. It amazes me the effort and the "smarts" that some of these scammers have.. If only they would apply themselves as they do in trying to scam people, they could be earning a  legitimate living, instead of trying to rip off hard working people..There is a special place in hell for people like that.
