Gigi is right. Unfortunately, non-profits are exempted from telemarketing restrictions implemented under the Do Not Call list legislation.

I sent them an e-mail telling them to take my number off their list or I would report them to the Better Business Bureau (not good for a charity).  Haven't heard from them since then!

Get this call almost daily, often multiple times a day.  I have donated to the Epilepsy Foundation, but there is something suspicious about this caller.  The area code is a Northern CA toll free number.  But White Pages says it is associated with someone named Victoria Tesoniero of  357 Middlesex Ave Wilmington, MA 01887-2133.  I have blocked the call through Comcast, so I don't even see it anymore.

My phone provider has the ability to block calls from specific numbers in addition to providing a log of all calls, received, missed, etc. If your provider has this feature I would suggest simply adding the number to your blocked list, end of problem. If I see more than two calls from someone I don't want to hear from I just add the number to the list. Sad to say the list is getting long.

they are not slime balls as you put it. Everyone has some stuff in there house that they are not using and taking up space, so why not donate it for a good cause, Next time they call, just tell them you don't have anything at the moment.

Thank you, I now know who belongs to that number. I found out on 411.com, it was a Victoria Tesoniero out of Wilmington, MA. So it's actually the Epilepsy Foundation. My telephone provider has the call blocking feature that I pay a fee for (*77), but I still receive "Unavailable, Out of Area and Private" calls.

They've called a couple of times already.  The Caller ID says "800 Service", and I don't answer calls that don't properly identify themselves.  Other people have said that this is a company that certain charities hire to call for donations.  (In this case, most say they're calling for the Epilepsy Foundation.  All charities should understand that most people will not answer calls through contractors who don't display a real CID.
