this is a legitimate service people.

they do this every 3 years and my bank set it up.  I keep forgetting about it because it's been so long since the last time.

there is no scam involved, it's a matter of you not paying attention to your banks fine print when you get your cards from them.

besides it's only every 3 years. relax

    Dude
    I have the same charge.
I called the bank , if you agree to a 1 month free trial they can now get your bank account.
The only way around is to put a block on that company, which is only good for 1 yr from tdcanadatrust.....
The only way to fix this is to change your account number, i was told.

don't listen to this guy, he probably works for them, an unauthorized charge is just that, its a scam, its theft, and just because it is $30 or $70 these losers get away with it....since when do you authorize a charge 3 years ago?   Bunch of scammers that the banks let get a away with....Do you think the banks get a cut?  I would bet on it..........

They actually screw me too; they charge my inactivated credit card (MBNA Master Card...). Since this card was not activated I didn't do my address change for this card and got billed anyway. Now I’m having issue with my credit score at Equifax/trans union for something I didn't want or asked...I will try to get MasterCard to cancel the transaction and credit report or I will call the ombudsman of TD (they bought MBNA in 2011) or the AMF (Quebec Financial Authority)...
I don’t understand how MBNA could let this company billed an inactivated card...this is really scary…

This is a service I signed up for 3 or more years ago. We all agreed verbally to enroll in the program. They get you by saying that you are free to call and cancel before a set timeframe and you will not be charged. Obviously enough of us forgot to do so or they conveniently "have no record" of the cancellation.

After seeing a charge of $80.44 to my account I called to get a refund and to unenroll. I was told that it is a non refundable service. When I was assured it was a non refundable charge, I simply and calmly stated that I would be filing a stop payment with Visa. I was then "put on hold" as the associate "spoke with her supervisor". Was given a full credit and my subscription to the service was ended.

The moral of the story is to never let such scam companies send you "free information".

Looks like I'm the latest one to find out I've been ripped off by this company.  After looking at my Visa bill today, I noticed a charge for 73.45 and decided to call RBC regarding it.  They had no idea what I was talking about regarding the company, and immediately started a reversal/dispute, as well as changing my card number and blocking the company.  So I decided to call this credit company and find out what was going on.  All I got was the run around.  First the lady asked for my address to verify who I was. To which I refused to give them because I never agreed to any credit reporting service.  Then I was asked for previous address, again, I've moved 5 times in the last 10 years, so how would I know which address to give.  After some time and aggravation, she decided to give me a "hint" on when I "signed" up.  So I gave her the only address I could have lived at when she mentioned it.  And wouldn't you know, it wasn't the one she had in the system.  Well this is the point where I start to lose my cool.  I basically told them the choices they have are to tell me when I "signed" up, or my next two phone calls are to the RCMP for fraud charges, and a lawyer to recoup money and damages.  All of a sudden, she can magically tell me exactly when I started.  Again, I gave her the address I was living at at the time, and no match, which is odd because I lived there for 6 years, 4 before I was ever contacted by this sham company.  This nonsense went on for another ten minutes, and basically ended with me telling them I either talk to a manager, because this person was an idiot, or I contact authorities.  I'm still waiting to hear from them, and the RBC is investigating this as a fraud.

I also received a charge on my bank account
in order to cancel this charge I found that you must call the company at 1-866-414-8513
You must also have the actual address you were living at including the postal code when the credit cards were taken out . You do not need to give out any banking information as they already have it apparently.
Don't hang up, stay on the line, I found it to be a very trying experience until I finally got someone to cancel this charge.  Good Luck

I've had the CRDRegistry charge my Visa Account every year. This year it was $31.49. I finally called this number to cancel it: 1-800-456-4042. I talked to a very polite lady. She told me I've with them since 1998. I don't remember signing anything, but apparently the service was offered to me by the RBC.
When I told her I'd like to cancel, she tried to keep me from doing so by explaining why I should keep the service, but I declined. She didn't  insist and said she'd cancel it and would refund my money. Hopefully, there will be no problem.

I signed up for this Card Registry service (Card Assist) about 5 years ago.  I called them two years ago to cancel my subscription and get a refund.  I was told my subscription would be cancelled but a refund would not be possible.  The gentleman on the phone told me a note would be put on my file, so the subscription would not be renewed.  I was recently charged again for this service, even though I cancelled two years ago.  This company needs to be reported to the better business bureau.  I recommend that no one uses any of their services.

I also got charged $31.49 on my Royal Bank VISA statement.  When I phoned, they explained the "insurance" & that I had agreed in 2001 to accept the service over the phone.  This is not something I would agree to.  I don't purchase additional insurance.  I kept telling the man to take the charge off my account as I did not want the service.  He kept repeating several times that he would mail an explanation as to what the service does but I told him again & again & again that I did not agree to it and I did not want the service.  After arguing with the guy for over half an hour, he said he would credit the charge on my next statement.  Now, I have the pay the charge & wait for my next statement because if I just omit paying this amount, I will get charged interest charges forever for this amount.  On checking my last year's statement I found they had indeed charged this same amount and probably every year since 2001.  Unfortunately it got by me as I thought it was a legitimate charge for something my daughter has used the card for.  So I am really, really angry.  How in the world can corporations get away with this.  Why aren't they forced to get approval in writing instead of by phone.  Does anyone know how we can get this money back to the beginning???

My husband just fought off the charge with RBC. It showed up on our 'backup' card, an RBC visa gold, and it happened to be the only charge on that card this month, so very obviously stood out. $73.09 to a 'crd registry' with an 866 number from ontario. First the RBC visa guy said it sounded like the insurance, as others have said - which we would never give the go-ahead on - so my husband said so. The guy said he'd transfer him to Card Assist (the insurers?), and my husband protested, said he could transfer him to security, because it was an unauthorized charge...but no, had to go through card assist, who said they didn't have my husband on file...20 minutes now, and he got transferred to Security. The security guy tried really hard to make my husband admit to authorizing something. My husband stuck to "no, I didn't authorize this"; then, it came out that it was on an old, canceled card - again, my husband questioned how that could possibly be, and that when he'd switched cards years ago he'd left no outstanding balance; finally, FINALLY, they agreed to reverse the charge. Stinks to high heaven to me.

A charge of $31.49 showed up on my chequing account in December 2016.  When I called to inquire, the company rep asked for much more personal information than I felt inclined to give.  I ended the call by telling him I would rather deal with my bank, TD Canada Trust.  When I did A.  teller at the bank told me she wasn't able to reverse the charges (she did try), and she set up a meeting with an assistant manager.  He informed me that this was definitely fraudulent and brought up a website similar to this to show me responses such as these. He indicated that he would send my case to their fraud department.  In the meantime, the bank said that the only way I could prevent any other charges was by cancelling the chequing account and opening another.  This was a totally time consuming process, and not without many issues.  But, I followed through on their advice.

Three months later...... the bank has done nothing to return the funds, while continuing to indicate, "they are on it!"  I decided to call card reg. and inquire about the charge again.  This time, armed with the experience and therefore, some knowledge.  It became obvious that cardreg still has my address and can state a date that I signed up, (for the record, i wasn't even home the night they indicated I signed up.). The rep was almost speechless when, over the course of the conversation, I told him of my bank's opinion, response and the steps they had me take to ensure no other charges would be incurred on my account.  I ended the call by suggesting they renegotiate their "said relationship" with TD Canada Trust as my branch considers their company fraudulent.
