You are incorrect because I have called it back and they state it is The National Rifle Association

It's called Caller ID Spoofing. They fake the number.

Unless the National Rifle Association admits that it was them calling, then a previous poster is probably correct that this is a scam by debt collectors.

Given their persistence, I suspect that previous poster is right, and some but not all of you who keep claim it is the National Rifle Association could be working for the scammers.

Notice to scammers, spammers, and telephone solicitors of whatever nature:  I did not acquire a telephone and continue to pay for the service to provide you and those of your ilk a direct link to me or my home.  I have Caller Identification and I provide you, via messaging service, a means of leaving me a brief message that I may review on my time and at my leisure rather than on your annoying schedule.  My telephone routine is as follows:
    1.) Telephone rings
2.) I observe the Caller Identification
a.) If I recognize it and choose to, I answer.  Gone are the days of, “If it rings answer it!”
b.) If it is not recognized, or is “Unnamed,” or “Toll Free,” or “Wireless Caller” or etc etc I do                not answer and wait to see if a message is left.  If no message is left I assume what you had               to say wasn't worth the wasted time placing the call.  I make a mental note of the call and the          second repetition precipitates an entry to my Call Blocked list.
c.) If a message is left I choose If or When I may return the call.  If you receive no call back                from me assume your message did not pique my interest or that my brief Internet search                subsequent to your call alerted me to your annoying practice.  Further attempts to contact me          will only stiffen my resolve to Avoid speaking with you with notices being forwarded to              various of my friends and family.

Changing calling numbers or altering the information displayed on the Caller Identification merely increases my data base of Blocked Numbers and detracts from more than enhances your case and further proves your intent to be, at least, an annoyance or burden to my life.  Thanks for reading.

I agree, these phone calls are getting on my last nerve!  My tele-zapper doesn't work anymore so now I bought a Uniden phone that you can block any number you want. They are now on my lengthy blocked list. Their name is National Recovery not rifle

THIS ABSOLUTELY IS THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION (NRA).  I might have actually talked to them if they would not be so deceiving, would actually leave a message on my answering, etc.  It's BS the way they are handling these calls to us.  I am not a member of the NRA, however,  a lot of people receiving these calls are.   BELOW, I HAVE LISTED OTHER NUMBERS THAT THE NRA IS USING.
TO BE REMOVED:  Call the number,  Press 1 and Listen to message, Press 1 again and listen to THAT message, press 3, enter your number to be removed, listen to confirm. Hang up and hope you never hear from the pric*s again.  I've nothing against the NRA... until now!  I personally called all the NRA numbers BELOW.  I'll check back into this post in a couple of weeks and let you know if the calls have stopped.  If not, I intend to have my mother and father (lifetime member's of the NRA) both call. Being a past world record holding target-shooter, gun smith, and author of many articles for the NRA and various other related magazines, I may have my father call his NRA buddies personally.  If the calls have not stopped, I intend to post, for your pleasure their numbers and personal extensions.

I'm inclined to agree with rick, who says it's Call ID spoofing, and that those who adamantly claim it is the National Rifle Association are in league with the scammers. so beware of what you tell to whom ever calls. I am a Benefactor Life member of the NRA, life member for 35+ years, and have never known the organization to stoop to such unscrupulous methods. but collection agencies, well that's a horse of a different color. The phone # I have had for 11 years was the last number of a debt dodger, I still get collection calls asking for these individuals by NAME, I explain to the caller this is a reassigned # and I do not know these people, in most cases they agree to remove my # from their data base, the calls have tapered off to just a few.

Regarding the Recovery vs Rifle debate: Technology has been available for many years allowing callers to fake the number they're calling from. It is possible that if indeed the Recovery group is calling and wishes to hide their identity to lure a suspected deadbeat, they might use some other phone number. The Rifle group is also quite capable of mounting automated fundraising campaigns that will result in calling patterns that are almost identical. Clearly they have a bank of numbers to use for such purposes. I mention this only because some are so convinced of the callers identity merely by calling back the number that supposedly called. That is not a sure fire method of identifying an unknown caller in this day and age.

Received a call from this number at 0900 am this morning. answered the call then they hung up, this happens quite often lately I work nights so I really do not appreciate these calls. If anybody knows how to trace the number to an office building I would per sonally go there to address this matter!
