Q. What happens when I call your Outage Reporting Line, 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877)

A. Our automated phone system reads the phone number from which you call and uses that number to look up your account record. From your account record, your address is automatically entered into a computer program that sorts outage calls by location.

(Note: If you have moved recently, or if you most likely will call using a number other than one associated with your account - such as a cell phone - please update your account information accordingly.)

Based on the outage information collected, our dispatchers determine where to send crews from our service centers to restore power. Sometimes a dispatcher can give an exact problem and location, but other times a service crew must survey an area to find the reason for the outage. Once the problem is corrected, the service crew notifies the dispatcher that it is ready for the next assignment.

This is actually Penelec calling with a special message.  It can be related to an upcoming power outage so they can work on the lines, or they want to make sure if you have a dog that it is not in the way of the meter reader or other messages.  If they don't leave a message, not sure why they don't.  I had a message from this number informing me of an upcoming outage for work on our local lines.

This was a recorded call from First Energy advising us that the meter will be read tomorrow and asking that our dogs stay inside. I have added them to my contact list so I know who is calling in the future.

This is a legit call from JCP&L Company - I returned the call and was advised of an upcoming power outage due to renovations.

Call from Potomac Edison advising of upcoming planned power outage in my area. I did not answer the phone, but they did leave a detailed informational message. Seems odd though that others reported a call from the same number representing different companies, so perhaps this number represents a contracted message service.

Thtey keep calling and dont respond when answered.

This is a legit call. Its from Penelec and its after you report an outage. Answer it. They keep calling because they think you're without power.
