Well Fargo verified this is NOT a number for any of their departments and it is a phishing scam for personal and financial information.

This IS a legitimate number for Wells Fargo's loss prevention*.  Before calling it back I logged into my web account and found that Wells had put a hold on my card for potentially fraudulent activity.  I called this number and provided some basic information like the last 4 card digits and my zip.  It played back some transactions, asking if I had made these purchases.  When I said no, it transferred me to a live rep, who verified some additional information (like: she read me several transactions that I HAD made recently.  It's unlikely a phisher would have this unless they had hacked the bank). She advised me that my card number had in fact been compromised and that a new card would be mailed to my house.

* Even though someone at Wells said it wasn't one of their numbers, the fact is it's amazing how disconnected hundred+ year old companies can be.  It's very common for someone in one bank/region/department to not be able to access info from other parts of the company.  When smaller banks are bought out by larger ones, they often change only their signage, not their systems.  Whoever you spoke to simply may not have received the memo...

I don't bank with Wells Fargo.  I also got a voicemail from this number and they used my bank's name, not Wells Fargo. This is a fraud.

Okay, I got the same call but it said my bank's name instead. Not all banking institutions use the same fraud alert phone number, and this has been a questionable number for over 15 years (according to the first queries/comments here). That is more than just suspicious. That is a track record of phishing.

I received a call from this number but not claiming to be Wells Fargo, I don't have a account with Wells Fargo. The computer voice claimed to be from America First, I do have an account with them. I checked my account and found no flagged transactions. This is a phisher!

This is fraud now claiming as America first credit union. This is not the AFCU security department! It is a scam to get your card info. They left a voicemail claiming a number that I do not have. I used that number to catch them in their scheme. The credit union will never send calls like that!

This number 888-671-2468 called me and sent a voicemail claiming it was the America Credit First Union Fraud Department. It sounded legit, but I know believe it to be false

Back in 2015, a poster said the caller was from Wells Fargo  --  Red Flag.

Looking up this number on Google, and there are posts from American First Credit Union that suggest the calls are from scammers  - Red Flag.

If you are not a client of AFCU, this call is at least spam, and probably a scam.
If you are a client, call AFCU on a number you know is correct and you can inquire about the status of your account and see if they have been trying to reach you.
