scam!!!!  They act like they are a collection agency and will serve papers on you and threaten you that they will come to your work!!!

This is a scam. Acting like a debt collector and trying to get money. They need to be exposed! I can't even find the company on line.

They have left me messages syaing they are going to do an asset and liability search. I dont even know what that is. They act like I owe them money, but I dont owe anyone!

I had to deal with these guys and they were nothing but helpful. I had a payday loan that was out there for over a year. They didnt even charge me the %200 intrest that those crooks at the pay day loan company were charging me. I only had to pay what I owed when I defaulted and if they had charged me the intrset i would have owed $3500.00.

....And I bet you WORK for them and thats why you're putting positive feedback on here...This company is not a part of the better business bureau, they dont have a website, can't find ANY type of information on them, and they're employees are extremely rude. I wouldnt trust them.

got a call threatening me, but since its a collection agency ill save the voicemails for now. if they keep harassing me ill further look into my legal options

This company Lewis and McCarthy just seemed to show up but with the same people, just a different company.  They hit my bank account without permission under the other company name.  I got the phone number from the bank and when I tried to call it back, it went back to a cell phone in Buffalo, NY.   Truly I got scammed.

I received a call from this company.  The woman "Erica" sounded as if she did not have a high school diploma then transferred me to her "director."  He did not sound any better but started asking me questions, regarding employer, ss number, etc...It is a TOTAL scam!  When I requested more information from the company, he hung up. BEWARE!!

Lewis & Mccarthy keeps calling my cell phone numbers.  I have three for my family and they have hit on two of them.  They keep asking for the same person and when I call and tell them that we have had these numbers since 2000 and have never heard of the person they are asking for, they promise to take the number off their automatic dialer, but that just doesn't happen.

Well I have had similar experience, first I had an investigator call and threaten to serve me with papers then gave me this number to call with an ext. the guys name was Shawn Hayes is who answered when I called the number I asked what this was regarding since the investigator said I had charges pending for fraud I am like for what? Apparently they had info on and old JC Penney account I owed still and they was trying to collect for it. Well I am currently doing debt settlement with a company and this Shawn told me that they could not talk to my debt settlement company that I would have to talk to them and get a settlement offer and call them back needless to say I emailed my debt settlement company and they gave me this website. Usually I ignore most phone calls but this guy wouldn't let up and called again yesterday telling my son that I needed to call before 3 pm or they was going ahead with the charges. My gut told me something wasn't right glad I listened to it!

My husband just got the call that if he didn't come up with $438 within 24 hours they were taking him to court. Unfortunately, he didnt know the right things to say. I have never heard of them and nor have I ever received any correspondance from them. They use pretty threatening tactics, which I thought were illegal.

I got a call today from this office. It was regarding a payday loan I had taken out and not paid a year ago. I made them get me a letter first emailed to me then I paid it off and made them take it off my credit report.

Total scam, I called the company who suposedly I owed money to for which they were collecting and they said no it was a scam.

I spoke to these guys about my old payday bill. They told me to call the payday lender to verify. I called the lender and was sent to a debt buyer. They verified my account was placed at Louis and Mccarthy. I am going to lay low and see if it goes away.

They called me representing SSM Group.  SSM Group attempted to scam me in 2009 by illegally depositing $200 into my checking account.  I saw the deposit and had my bank reverse it so no money changed hands.  I then received a phone call from Lighthouse Recovery stating that I owed money.  I explained I did not and asked for a dunning letter.  I never received any information but I did open a case with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions and the Better Business Burea.  Neither received a response from SSM Group or Lighthouse Recovery and eventually the case was close without further harassment.  Today I received a call from Todd Schultz of Louis and McCarthy threatening to send information to the "jail" and my employer.  I called Mr. Schultz back and listened to his explanation of the issue.  He stated that they were contacted that a judgement had been placed in regard to a check to SSM Group.  I thanked him for calling and explained that SSM Group had attempted to scam me a couple of years ago and that there was a closed case with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.  At that point I heard a beep and message that this was being recorded.  I waited for the message to end and explained againg about SSM Group and the closed case with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.  I asked for their address (4927 S. Western Blvd. Hamburg NY 10785) and told him that I would be contacting the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions today.

I HIGHLY recommmed contacting your State's Department of Financial Institutions if something like this happens to you.  I have established records with my state that this debt does not exist and never did.  I have sent a Cease and Desist Letter to Louis and McCarthy.

They have been calling me for months asking for someone named "Sonny Price" that is not me. They went on about how they are going to press charges. the first time a lady called I let her know I am not "Sonny Price" and to please leave me alone... bet they kept calling saying they had my SS# and band account and were going after me... I laughed as I knew they could not have this info since they did not even get my name right, most likey "Sonny Price" owned the phone number before me, or they just made it up. I called back asking to have them stop calling me and the guy I spoke to was FURIOUS that I had called him and asked him to stop calling. He claimed first that they never call anyone for more then 2 weeks (I have records proving otherwise) he claimed he was a lawyer and this was a federal something or other raising his voice and theatening me.I told her I would get a real lawyer and sue them is they did not stop,  I did not take him seriously and he got so mad he hung up. He then called back trying still very mad and telling me he had not called since last month (again I have call records to prove other wise) and I just hung up on him. they are a scam and I do not pretend to know the depth of their lies and decit but I have decided to go after them in court as they have been harassing me for over 6 months. I am setting paper work in motion and the next time they call, I will record them. it is important to let someone know they are being recorded before you do it of course but once I disclose that I can use any tape I make of them in court. from what I understand I can sue them for up to 3 times what they are going after me for.

I got a letter through the post this morning, saying i had a final demand for £275.51 from lewis dept recovery, i tried to ring the number and just beeps!!
complete scam! going to take the letter i got into the bank and see if they can stop these people and everyone can get some justice
and HA they gave the pay online site as www.ICanPayU.co.uk!! i mean... come one!!!

I received a call from this number. They were calling about a old payday loan. I wanted proof they were authorized to collect this. they werent rude or anything but I dont want to get scammed. I called Check & Go and they directed me to them so I think they are the owners. I still am not going to pay them right now :)

Do not give them your bank info this is a scam through and through

I received a call from Lewis & McCarthy. They stated I had an old payday loan that needed to be paid that day or they would send the police to my house or job. I asked for proof of the debt and they sent me what amounted to an invoice. It didn't inform me of my rights to have them verify the debt within 30 days. I called them back the next day because I googled the company and up pops this website. They are not affiliated with the BBB either. I spoke with a Shawn Hayes and told him this. He got mad and started screaming at me telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and hung up on me. I Fed Ex'd them a letter yesterday asking for proof of the debt and also detailed for them the laws that they were breaking in the letter. I filed a complaint with the FTC. These guys are scammers.
