- merlot....| 3 repliesThe 888-759-6056 is an OK number. I had 4 calls today and since I did not recognize the number I did'nt answer it. I finally decided to find out what or who it was after seeing another person online here was having the same problem and it was an electric outage update. I checked my warning notice from Edison advising me of a 10 hr outage due to extensive work being done in our tract and the whole area was going to experience the outage and gave us advise what to do and what not to do. The number that kept calling was the same one on my caller ID. Don't know what they just did'nt leave a message or say who they where when no one answered the phone. Since all the trucks in the area and the Edison warning I got I think it's safe to assume that they were giving me an update on the outage.

- Mike| 7 replies888-759-6056 is a computer generated message from your local utility company advising of a power outage. However, if you're not at home the least they should do is leave a msg., but perhaps that's too complicated for American industries. In Europe and Japan I know from experience they send out alerts via text msg, E-Mail and phone and leave a voice mail to warn of a planned outage. Now why can't they do that in the world's richest, most powerful country?
- Caller: SoCal Edison
- Call type: Event reminder
- JamesI got the same message from the same number for a scheduled power outage.

- sI missed a call from this number, no message left. I did receive a notice in the mail last week that my power would be off tomorrow for 5-8 hours. So, it's likely it was the power company as others above mentioned.
- jess replies to MikeThey do.....they sent us out a post card---i think the phone call is just a reminder, or just in case you didn't get your mail, letting you know.
- Xavier replies to Mikemaybe if you actually pay attention you would know that there are many other duplicate ways in which they let people know of their controlled power outage, they leave notes/flyers in all mailboxes (I already got two), they call and they email you too, but for that they have to have your email stored and have your permission to use it for future announcements. I got phone calls, fliers in the maibox and email messages letting us know about the coming power outage. I am European (French and lived for a long time in England), never did they call us or let us know about any such maintenance issues when I lived there, actually the European utility companies services are horrendous, I find those here way superior. I prefer N Calfiornia PG&E to be sure, way more efficient than the utilities companies in So Cal, but the ones here are not too bad compared to Europe.
- JessicaI just recceived a call from this number, and sent it to voice mail since I didn't recognized the number. I then received a voice mail, in a computer generated voice. It reminded me of a planned outage tomorrow from 8 am until 6pm, in order to update their system. It was a follow up to a postcard I received last week.
- Caller: Edison
- Diane replies to hgIf you call 888-759-6056 have your 6-digit number on SCE post card handy to learn the date and time of outage in your area.
- MJMWe did get a post card the other day. If they want us to pick up the caller ID should say "Edison" not "unavailable".
It's too bad there are so many telemarketer calls. I just don't pick up unless I recognize the caller ID. They could have left a computerized message!- Caller: So Cal Edison
- Call type: Event reminder
- Richard replies to merlot....Thank you!!!
- John smith replies to merlot....They called me more than 20 times today. I didn't answer in the beginning and then when I did, it just hung up without saying a word. This is obnoxious.
- PattySo. Ca. Edison is calling regarding a cancellation for a maintenance outage notice for Aug. 28th.
- Caller: So. Ca. Edison
- Call type: Event reminder
- Doug| 1 replySame as others have said, notice from SCE regarding power outage for maintenance. Would be nice if at least they put their name in the caller ID. Don't know why they can't have their system leave a message.
- Caller: Southern California Edision
- Call type: Debt collector
- Jennifer replies to MikeBecause SoCal Edison is a pain in the neck company that doesn't care about their customers only their pocket books.
- PrivatecallerI don't really mind being called about a planned power outage. What I want to know is how did they get my cell phone number and associate it with this address? I'm on the donotcall list.
- HeadRush replies to MikeBecause doing that costs money. Greedy people don't spend anything they don't have to.

- CharThere is a planned power outage tomorrow. Users have been notified by e-mail. I've had 3 calls today from this number - all at bad times for me to answer to phone. When I finally answered on the third call, there was no answer. No messages were left on the first two calls. If Edison thinks this is good customer service, they are wrong.
