I spoke with my bank who said this account was linked to JP Morgan subsidiary - a charity. It appears that this is a company that organizations can pay to manage their payment systems. Normally when the payment goes through the name of the charitable organization as well as the phone number is listed, but there is a known glitch where the phone number appears alone. This ocurred in Feb 2018 for 2 charities I support: Ecojustice and  Nature Conservancy Canada. I spoke with the bank, called the number, and also called Ecojustice to confirm.

This number is for my monthly contribution to Young Life Canada, a youth charity.

As others have mentioned, it would be handier to have the charity name or even some ID hints than some seemingly random phone number, but your leads were helpful in getting this sorted out for me.

This page was helpful. There was no name and just two phone numbers on an item on my credit card bill. The first # was this 888#, and the 2nd number was for a charity I do actually donate to. So you can add UNHCR (raises money to support people in refugee camps) to this list.

Apparently this was a donation I made today online...haha  to Oxfam Canada. I did not make any . Reported it to visa. Charge came up on my visa

I feel this is fraud since the state they are from Red Cross but from what I can see they use any found raise

$20 charge showed up on my credit-card statement.
Googling the second number listed in the transaction details: 888-955-5455 800-418-1111 NB
showed a telephone-number listed at: http://www.redcross.ca/donate/other-ways-to-donate/donate-by-phone
namely the Canadian Red Cross.
They must be using a collection-agency to process my ACTUAL donation.

Didn't call the phone number, but on reading this site I remembered that I made an online contribution to Reading is Fundamental -- and the charge is listed as RIF 888-955-5455 DC.

Good that I remember it now, but still a pretty cryptic way to list the transaction. I will admit that I don't recall if this was specified when I input the original charge.

This number appeared on my credit card statement as WETT INC in Ontario. Someone stole my credit card information. This is not a legitimate charge!!
