- jackie| 1 replygot the survey this week and the phone call tonight. never had them call in all the 20 years we've been with USAA. thanks for the headsup everyone, I'll block the calls if they are going to continue calling
- Caller: MSB USAA
- KerriI did one better, I get so tired of all these calls (8 times) and letters (2) that I wrote on the survey, "Nothing has changed, stop calling" then cut the paper into small puzzle squares and mailed it to Marshall and Swift. Maybe that will keep them busy for awhile and it will stop some of the calls for others.

- ChrisI just called the number back and asked to have my number removed from their calling list. The lady was very polite, and quickly removed my number.

- KCM7AlphaI have a very simple method of "screening" calls coming in on my cell phone. If I don't recognize the number or have it already entered into my Address Book so that the caller's ID pops up, I don't answer. They can leave a message if it's THAT important!
- Caller: Marshall & Swift (?)
- Ruth replies to jackieHa Ha! Thanks so much for the info you guys, I am a USAA customer also and I returned a call from this number after reading the previous post. I told them I did not want to participate in the survey and they were really nice and asked for my number to remove me from their calling list!
- Kris| 2 repliesI'm glad to hear I'm not the only one upset by the calls and written surveys. I've been a happy client of USAA for over 37 years, but I'm very disappointed in this tactic. My home value has decreased by over 50%, and my salary has been stagnant for the past 4 years, so I'm certainly not inclined to respond to a survey that will increase my premiums.

- thirg replies to KrisYour home's market value has nothing to do with how much you need to insure it for.
You need to insure it for the what it would cost to rebuilt after a fire, which is more than new construction.
USAA is trying to make sure that their policyholders have adequate coverage and won't get caught with a coinsurance penalty. Other carriers are lazy and do nothing to try and help you avoid this; USAA is doing a good thing.
Too often homeowners make upgrades and don't tell their insurance company. - johnwilliamsonI received a questionaire from my HO company asking me to measure my rooms identify paint wall paper, flooring, toilets etc. New Jersey Manufactures Insurance. I sent it back writing in coments "you people are [***]". I received a curt letter from a trouble shooter asking me to call her. I did. She advised that they hired Marshal Swift to do Replacedment Cost analysis. Their analysis was that my house which I paid $550,000.00 for 6 years ago, will cost $463,000.00 to replace. I disputed their analysis. A- prices go up and down, labor material etc B- If I want to pay the premeim for 550 coverage whats the problem? C- Their analysis does not cover demolition.Their response waqs that I can insure the house for 550 but they will only pay 463 for replacement.

- RayI can see their point in the survey, But they should have gotten all the proper information on the house when they insured it. We bought a new house, they insured it, but they insured for almost $100k less than what it would cost to rebuild. How do I know. The house burned down on me and is being rebuilt. USAA was awesome with helping me out. They are even paying the full price for the house because the adjuster said that it was their screw up for not insuring the house for what it was worth. (We bought it for almost half the value of what it cost to rebuild. - was a model home never lived in, and the company went out of buisness.)
Yeah they called me and I told them USAA has all my current info on file, since they just paid the large claim to have the house rebuilt.- Call type: Survey
- KrystalThank you, these calls are coming with increased veracity and are quite annoying; no messages ever left. USSAA, please cease any association with whom ever is calling on your behalf.
- Frankie replies to KrisAll u people complaining about the company raising your rates. I actually updated my info online at USAA and my rates went DOWN! Maybe, just maybe, the company is one of the few that is trying to SAVE their customers money. I too get the calls, but they stopped calling when asked to.
- lsI have been with USAA for years and they have been wonderful to me. I get dividend refunds on my car insurance and it hasn't gone up until I recently purchased something newer than my '94. In January I only had to pay $4.63 on my monthly payment because of that refund.
I have been getting these calls but I rarely answer my phone (I don't like phones) so I didn't know what it was about until I looked up the number and it brought me here. I got the letters but I didn't fill them out because I haven't changed anything lately.
I do know that USAA was very helpful recently when a car dealer from their website tried to rip me off. I couldn't get the dealer to give me back the outrageous amount of gap insurance money they tried to scam out of me and USAA handled it for me. They also gave me money to buy my house using one of their real estate agents that I was already using anyway. All they did was call a couple of times to ask if I needed any assistance. I didn't, I bought a house, and they sent me a check. Not many companies give you that kind of money for doing what you were doing anyway.
I'm not happy with many companies now-a-days. USAA is the only one that still treats me like they value me as a customer so I thought you all should know that not everyone is unhappy with them.
If it is a third party calling then you should make your concerns known. I get help every time I pick up the phone and call their number. - natekept calling and i got sick of it so answered and asked them to take me off their call list. the guy started arguing with me, saying he is not a solicitor. i repeated my request a few times - all with 'please'. he hung up on me. i suspect they will call back.. shame on USAA!

- USAA MemberI've been getting these surveys in the mail and figured it was to raise my rates. I haven't responded, but now they're calling me. Thanks to this site, I will continue ignoring these calls.

- jGot a nearly unintelligible phone message last week, that my cellphone couldn't pick up a caller ID number for, but somehow the voicemail service gave this as the phone number. The caller identified herself as Marshall & Swift and left an 866 number for callback that was missing a digit. Last year I got a last minute urgent call on another property. The appraiser said an in-person inspection was required. Inside, he seemed intelligent but mostly interested in taking photos, which he said was required. He called back a week later about the smoke detectors and a few other things I made sure to point out to him, but he didn't bother writing down or taking pictures of. Soon enough I got contacts from a realtor wanting to sell the property for me, even though I told the M&S auditor I was between rentals (per the policy) and wasn't selling. A few months later, as others have written here, a rate hike. I've been with USAA for a couple of decades, but ever since the new management started the high advertising policy, with lots of "service partners," the integrity and quality of service that caused me to stick with USAA has dropped. Reading this and a couple of other postings about this number, I'm not inclined to call back nor return the survey.

- RMSI just cancelled my homeowners insurance with USAA. I'm just fed up with the rate increases and being told they're looking out for my best financial interests. I'm not a toddler, and I don't need anyone to tell me how much it costs to rebuild my house. Frankly, they've become condescending and "high pressure" neither of which I view as valued qualities.
I re-insured with Western Mutual Insurance Group, and if you're in an area they cover, I highly recommend you check them out. They been in business the 1890's and exclusively providing homeowners insurance for 65 year AND they're rated A+ by AM Best. The coverage they quoted me is superior to my USAA policy and costs HALF what I was paying USAA.
Here's another tip, when comparing policies, pay particular attention to the itemized coverages on the declaration pages. USAA was way off balanced in dwelling coverage, personal property, loss of use and so on. Excessively high coverage in areas you likely don't have or need and lower coverage in areas you are more likely to need. They've become quite the little tricksters.
Too bad, because they used to beat everyone else hands down... not any more.- Caller: USAA / Marshall & Swift

- Frustrated USAA member replies to Unhappy USAA PolicyholderWell said. I will send them a message directly now. I am not liking what I see.
- Really Frustrated with USAAI am a USAA member and I first got the home survey last year. I dutifully filled it out, carefully measuring things to be sure that my answers to the various square footage and percentage questions were correct. This took a bit of time and effort and I was slightly irritated that USAA couldn't figure some of this information out from when I purchased the house, but I also thought it was somewhat reasonable that some things might have changed.
When I received the survey again a year later, and without my previous answers pre-populated, I ignored it. I then started receiving calls from this number, which I did answer because the caller ID information said USAA. The person asked if I had received the survey and if I would be sending it back. I explained that I had already done it the year before, but was told I needed to do it again. I didn't bother with it for quite a few weeks, during which time I received repeated calls from this number. Most of the time no message was left, but a few times there was a message saying it was USAA calling about the survey. I finally filled it out just to get them to stop harrassing me, but since I couldn't remember a few things like the total square footage of my house, wasn't going to bother re-measuring everything, and am terrible at estimating that sort of thing, I just marked those questions as "no change."
About a week later I got message saying they had received my survey and saw that I marked certain things as not having changed since the last survey but they don't have that information, and asked that I call back with it. Now I've started getting calls at work from this number, though no messages are being left.
My feeling is that if USAA can't be bothered to keep track of the information I sent them last year, I'm hardly going to waste my time collecting it again. And since, as another poster pointed out, they say if you don't respond they're just going to continue current coverage, and my house hasn't changed, there's no advantage to me (or USAA for that matter) in doing this.- Caller: USAA MSB
