I used to work for Tri Star selling vacuums. They would send out a prize winning mailing.   I think the word 'scam' is probably a bit too dramatic.  basically, when you give them your address and phone number that information turns into a sales lead for the representative.  then he shows up at your door to do a presentation of the tri star cleaning system.  they are amazing vacuums, not sure if i would pay the advertised price though.  If you make it through the presentation, basically you get a vacation package.  the vacation package is really a getaway to a time share presentation.  but if you have a heads up about all this, you wont be surprised.  you can learn a bit about the tri star vaccuum, and you can expect to be pressured into a condo while on your vacation.  haha.  :)

So not only do you get to sit through a vacuum pitch,
you also get to sit through a timeshare pitch.  WOW!

Got a  winning 3 sevens card outside of Winnipeg. I've tried calling the 855-224-0659 number, but all I get is an answering service that wants a 10 digit access number, which, of course, I don't have. After reading these posts, I won't call again.

Seeing your comment made me chuckle. My hubby and I had a vacuum demo about 8 years ago when we got married, and were told that for watching the demo we'd get a great prize.

If I recall correctly, these guys were just two salesmen on foot, soliciting door to door. Unfortunately, our apartment building at the time wasn't controlled entry, so anyone could enter the building. I don't even think we had a "No Soliciting" sign on the doors either!

Anyways, the day they were there I was sick. I was napping when they knocked on our door, but my hubby had them wait in the hall, and asked if I wanted to see the demo for a laugh. I figured why not, we would hopefully get a prize of some sort, and it wasn't like there was much else going on that afternoon.

So they brought all their stuff in, and seemed pretty happy to be there. (Considering it was cold and rainy pre-winter day outside, and we were probably the only ones that let them in, it was easy to see why LOL). They were very polite and respectful, but of course they're trying to make a sale, so they really poured on the charm!

Ultimately, we decided that we really didn't want (or need) the vacuum, and left it at that. The two guys were disappointed, and although the charm slowly faded along with their smiles, we still got a set of Jinsu knives in a box that was falling apart and sealed in various place with duct tape! On the way out, they did said a quick thanks, hope you're better soon, and goodbye all in one sentence. As we watched them leave the parking lot, we had to have a good laugh, we got a prize alright, and actually the knives were fine, but the half-a$$ed tape work was too much :P

Got same card couple of days ago in Edmonton- Oct. 2011 . I would like to know if any of you got the notebook?

I did get one of those cards in the mail years ago (2005), we won a prize. I phoned and set up a demo with a sales man. Yes it was a Tristar with a in home vacuum demo. After about an hour we ended up with a new vacuum. Cause we bought a vacuum we got a big prize, a trip to Vegas.....the lower end hotel and a mid week trip. We never did cash in on that LOL.

So years later, 2011. We get a free service call for our vacuum. Now they are in our house checking over the vacuum. Mean while he has put a air purifier in a kids home. Another sales pitch as I own a vacuum. This is the best part, that day we get a bingo card in the mail and scratch it while he's talking to us. We won a laptop, really! We showed the sales man the card and he said it's not theirs, he knows what his looks like. On the back it says Tristar or Respiraide......now what prize will this get me LOL.

The vacuum works great, a life time warranty and service calls. I have carpet and animals plus small kids, a good vacuum is a must. No I'm not a sales man, just a guy.

I scratched 3 7s, the phone number on my card is 877 447 4200. Got it in the mail in Calgary.

These guys are still operating,just got my card today,glad i looked online prior to a phone call,thanks to all of you

I got 3 aces and 2 tens, so I called he said I qualified for one of the 5 gifts and someone would come to my house to show me the demo with my gift, then he kind of flirted with me? My husband made fun of me and said it was a scam and I went online so I got afraid and cancelled, he got mad! and said WHY I said because online it says your a scam and he said YOU LIED ABOUT YOUR ADDRESS! its a building not a home! but it is our home...so IDK whatever I don't want them at my house!

I've won in a "scratch and win" poker card left in my mailbox the other day; called them up only to be asked if they could come to my house and sell me their "tristar Simple H2O system"...

bottom line: ITS A MARKETING SCAM TO GET YOU TO BUY THEIR STUFF!

*sigh* i was soooo excited too to think that i won a prize... but instead, i get a saleman in my living room wasting 45 mins. of my time...
