- Caller: (917)268-9953
- G CrawfordGot a call from this number today - Caller ID showed it was from Brooklyn, NY. It was a generic recording saying this was the "final notice" for my "credit card" without saying which one. I have no outstanding credit card balances - paid them off a long time ago, so this was clearly a scam.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Carmen replies to CAWomanYep I just noticed the number ending in 9953 which I got 3 different numbers. They called for my brother but I told them I was not giving him the message because it was a scam, I hung up and he called right back different number same person and told me if I didn't I will have legal issue. I told them to please send it because I will be filing a suit against them for harassment.
- Carmen replies to Lisa RoamDon't worry they won't do anything.
- SongBirdGot a call from this number. "Said my account was frozen." I hung up
- Call type: Debt collector
- Ed.AThis is a Google Voice outbound trunking number. Friends have been seeing it as MY NUMBER when I call from my cell phone. I use the old Google Voice App on Android that relays my outbound calls through GV, which is supposed to present my main CID instead of the cell number. Whoops! This "glitch" is apparently exploited by many scammers and collection agencies to spoof their real number. Like Skype, it's a legitimate service that's being abused by fraudsters.
- Caller: Me via Google Voice
- lisaTrying to steal your information!!!!! do NOT given out any information reguarding to steal your idenity
- SR replies to BobbyThey can't come to your house, you can take legal action on them!
- annoyedGot a call from a man with a south-east asian accent. Said he was from "windows technical support." He said that a computer with a "windows operating system" in my home was sending out packets of information and that he wanted to help me.
No windows machines here, but of course I only told him that I knew he was a scammer and that I was reporting him to the police.
We have excellent credit ratings and no issues there so I don't have a clue as to what this was about.- Caller: Windows support??
- TamBe sure to report them also to Microsoft who are keen to investigate and take legal action.
http://blogs.microsoft.com/cybertrust/2014/09 ... oft-phone-scam/ - christinareceived a call saying the person they were looking for was missing a court date and was in big trouble if we did not redirect the call or call another number and give them a legitimate # for the man. said they represented los, whoever that is.
- Caller: unknown
- ScottI just received a call from the number, and they said they were from the Microsoft Windows Dept. Obvious scam.
- CarlI was called from someone from this number (917-268-9953) who claimed to be from Microsoft and that I had a problem with my computer. He wanted me to open IE, but I questioned him why. He gave me my full name and some number. He showed me how to check for that number on my computer by doing the command prompt and typing "assoc". It came up with the number he quoted. I don't know if that is a generic number or one specific to my computer. I told him I had another call that I had to take and asked him for a number to call back. He gave me his name, Ricky Williamson, and the number 885-481-5399. I didn't call him back.
- Caller: ostensibly, "Microsoft"
