On 8 September 2022 at 15:37 I received a call on my UK landline from an incredibly noisy office. An Indian-sounding woman said she was calling from BT about my internet connection. I knew immediately this was a scam since I am not with BT. I played along and asked her to spell her name. She said it was Jennifer Wilson. She spelled it very slowly, as if reading it from a piece of paper. No-one spells their real name in the way she spoke! I let her ramble for some time – I couldn’t hear what she was saying actually. Then I told her she was a scammer and hung up. Dialling 1471 gave the number as 94250821 – I have added the code for the area I live in (0117) since that is presumably the number most people will see. I have also posted using the short original number.
