don't call this guy or number back its a scam 9498007609, has an Indian accent says his from the irs tell everyone

We got two calls from this number and they claimed to be "Dept of Legal Affairs" and said that my wife had a warrant out for her arrest.  I called back and challenged them, saying that I didn't believe it was a government entity and they hung up on me...

I got a call from Dept Legal Affairs today but he used the name Alex White.

Received two calls on my voicemail, Wednesday and Thurday, from a "Daniel Baxter" with the "U.S. Treasury Internal Revenue Service."  Said he was calling from the "Department of Legal Enforcement/Affairs" (the name changed in the middle of one message), and that an action had commenced against me so I should retain an attorney and have the attorney contact him.  Naturally, he offered me the alternative of working out a deal directly with him, in order to avoid "a legal mess for you."  He ended with "Have a blessed day" and "Good luck."  I have not called back, but I'm kinda hoping he calls again, now that I'm armed with information from this site.  Thanks, everyone.

My husband and I both got a call from these people claiming they were from the US treasury. They told my husband he had a warrant out for his arrest and that he should pay these people to be his attorney, or some other nonsense like that. I just screamed at them and hung up

I just got a call from Daniel Baxter with the Dept of legal affairs, said it urgent that my wife calls back. He has an East Indian accent and sounds like Hes in a call center. They also left a message on our machine saying shes in legal trouble. The scam phone # is 949-800-7609

Brain King called from the US Treasury department from 949-800-7609 and stated I am being charged with three counts of tax fraud, if I do not pay today a warrant will be issued and I will arrested today and can be detained for up to 6 months.

Why wait for them to call, you should call them back and mess with them.  Let them think they got you on the hook and you want to send money.  See if you can get there account information.... If you wait too long they will say they do not have your records.

The number 949-800-7609 called at 9 a.m. representing himself as from the Department of Legal Affairs of the U.S. Treasury located in California.  He said my name was the subject of a legal action and asked for my attorney name.  When I did not respond, he mumbled something and hung up.  This is the worst scam yet using a legitimate agency of the federal government title to criminally assault unwitting victims.  I have reported it to Do Not Call Registry and will follow up with the FBI.

This # called - Keith Martin. No accent. Said he was with US Department of Legal Affairs - part of the US Treasury. Called for my wife - but wouldn't tell me why. Did the research on google and blocked the caller through my phone service.

Received call from Roy Jackson that I needed to call back immediately due to legal action in my name. The number to call is 949-800-7609 Deptment of legal affairs. Please tell me this is a scam??!! How scarey!

Someone named Jason Knoxville called says he's from Dept. of Legal Affairs.  Asking for my Mom regarding legal matters.  Good thing I checked here.  Watch out for these annoying scam artist!  

I received the same call today on voicemail...used my maiden name from 20 yrs ago. Same as mentioned above..Daniel Baxter, Dept of Legal Affairs..tells me to call him or have my lawyer call him. Threatens me with a "legal mess" and also said "Good Luck" at the end..same phone number 949-800-7609. I knew right away it was a scam...broken English was horrible, vague description with veiled threat...I will block this number from my phones and I have no intention of calling him back.

I just got a call 22 mins ago from someone in an India accent saying they were from the U.S Dept of the Treasury,  asking if my lawyer was present and that I was facing legal action against me and to call this number 949-800-7609 and to talk to a Brian King. Beware of this also!!!

The person calling for my son would not disclose the nature of his call.

Thank goodness this is here. Live in Alabama but the company I work for has an office in Irvine California with same area code. I will usually completely ignore these calls, but when they left a voice mail stating I had legal action pending I picked up. Same story, said they were wanting my lawyers name who would be representing me, that I had legal action pending from US treasury. I said I know nothing of this and he said call 949-800-7609 and talk to the officer over my case, Brian King. I have a pretty common name so I asked if he could provide me with identifying info, and he could only give address and said King would have more info. When I pushed and told him it did not sound legit, he told me I would be arrested tomorrow. Glad I googled the number. SCAM. Just wish I could get the last 30 minutes of my life back.

Got a call from 949-800-7609 from Long Beach, CA. They wanted me to call back the "legal affairs" to talk about "charges against my name." First off, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't leave a message on a random machine if it were a serious legal matter. Second, I hope people don't fall for this scam!

Dec 10, 2014.  Left a message with this number, but caller ID just says security screen.  Said he was Daniel Baxter with the Dept of Legal Affairs calling about an action being brought against me.  I also thought this would be an odd thing to leave on an answering machine.  Hope they catch these guys!
