got a call for this number

just got two calls from them.  we're a business and get solicitation calls from the insurance companies now and again, so everyone's feedback here sounds about right.

the hang-ups result from the auto-dialer - technology dials about three phone numbers at a time, the first to answer speaks to the person on the other side.  the other two drop.  so don't take it personally when you get the hang-ups.  they'll get you on the line eventually.  ;)

it's a company soliciting insurance business.  Unfortunately, if the number they are calling is a business, they are allowed to call it under the safe harbor law, business to business solicitation exception. I believe they are using an auto dialer that hangs up automatically when detecting a voice. The company is assuming that you will call them back to find out who it was...A sort of, reverse telemarketing strategy.
The best thing for you to do is: call them and have them remove your number from their list. To better your odds of actually having your number removed, ask to have you number recited back to you, to make sure they even bothered to take the number down.

This is an insurance agent cold calling cell and land line numbers to see if the person they reach is interested in purchasing coverage with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

So it is as everyone has posted, BCBS trying to sell insurance.  I dialed 0 for the operator, explained that I wanted to stop getting the calls and be taken off the list, she transferred me to someone else who was pleasant and took my number to remove from the list.  I did have her repeat my number back and she got it right....sure hope that works!!

I got a call today, they are selling Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. They knew i was a business, probably got me from yellow pages or net.

This company called my company to try to sell insurance invoking o'bama's health plan.to scare me.  I had to tell the imbecillic moron that the health plan has been ruled unconstitutional by a federal appeals court about 6 weeks ago and will be held up in litigation for the unforeseen future.

Called my personal cell phone. I'm not a business. Blue Cross and Blue Shield agent, but gave a different call back number.

People like you are why they call. I would never buy from a telemarketer. If you wanted BCBS insurance call them directly. If you are buying through a middle man you are paying the middle man markup or getting scamed.
