We too have had this same email but cannot understand the motive, wondered if someone can enlighten.

The erroneous payment  was caused in accordance of total orders the client placed with our company while some were purchased from other companies therefore want us to proceed with the
order regardless of it by you deducting the compulsory 50% advance payment from the received amount and shall advise with his bank details for the refund of the excess later so that you can go to
production and after which we shall balance the payment and then conclude with shipment

We received a cheque from these people for £53,000 - when we only quoted them $8,000!
Did anyone else receive a cheque from a pharmaceutical company?
Our account was credited with the amount for a few days, during this time I think the scammers were hoping we'd send out the products. We then got a call from the bank saying it was a fraudulent cheque, and the money had been removed. Nothing had been sent out though.. but they did waste my time in creating pro formas and finding shipping costs!!!

I also rceived a request for a quote on garden furniture.

They were quoted ca. 7000 Euros and just this morning it turned out they sent a cheque to my bank for 70 000 Euros. Bit strange to say the least.

I asked the bank to check the cheque and we will see what happens.
Seems like an ordinary sccam.

PS they did not even worry about shipping costs. Those were to be added later on with another invoice.
