just hangs up each time

Following on from my previous post:

When I called the number (hiding my own first & omitting one of the 0 and both 4s), I got the tone that I'd expect to be followed by the recorded message "Sorry, the number you have dialled is not recognised..." etc. But after getting the tone just once, my call was cut off & the line went dead. Maybe I'd get through if I didn't hide my own number, but I'm not risking that!

0161 is a Manchester landline exchange, I have received a few calls with this prefix recently, most of them are trying to cold-call, despite TPS registration.
Does the TPS have any teeth?

I'm sure this phone number (0161968201) is not real as there appears to be a digit missing?

"0161 968 201" may have some relation to "0844 686 0199"
