I received a call from 3213295304 yesterday -- within a hour of my home PC crashing from the SMART HDD virus. The caller ID was blocked so I could not see the Goosberry company name.   They said they worked with Google and made calls to Google customers randomly to see if they needed any PC support. They could not or would not tell me where they got my name and phone number. (Quite a coincidence that they called right after my PC crashed with a virus.   I saw their caller ID pop up several times during the day before I actually picked up the phone...)   They told me they were located in California, but all of the 4 techs I spoke with sounded like they were in a call center in India.  None could speak English very well.   I went along with them for a while to see what would happen.  They acted like a normal helpdesk and walked me thru all the nomal steps to try to get my PC to boot back up to Windows 7, but nothing worked.  They did not charge me for this support service. After they tried a number of things and could not get my PC to boot, they offered, with my permission, to remote control to my PC, back up my data to an online server, format my hardrive and reinstall Windows 7 etc.   They offered me a gold or silver subscription.  Silver would cost $149 and, of course, I would have to purchase this service with a credit card.    If I had fallen for this scam, they could have stolen my identity using the data from my  PC hardrive and also had access to my credit card information.  I thanked them for the offer and support and told them I would take my PC to a local tech to have it restored.  They were very professional sounding support techs -- much like the support techs from India I deal with at work.   It would be easy for people to fall for this when they have a PC that has been attached my a malicious virus and are dealing with the possible loss of their data.

Call in reference to a computer problem with my computer crashing. The individual wanted me to allow him to access my computer to fix it. Since I could not verify he was actually worked with Google I ended the call. I was told that he asked for me by name.

I had a computer problem yesterday, i virus i assume but just right now i got a phone call in regards to my computer problem, a guy that claim that they worked with google and could help me fix my problem, they knew my name and also knew that i had a computer problem. suspicious inst it? I did not want to risk it, so i told him to thanks, im quite concern of how they got my personal information and i'm pretty sure this is a scam and to get my credit card number to rip me off.

See the comments of C Walker from April 19. I got the call when I was @ the computer repair store to check out a possible repair to what may have been a Trojan Horse virus. This call came within hours of the crash. The accent of the caller and other details given above we're similar. I told him I would handle this from my end. The computer repair person also confirmed that no one from Google would call in such an instance as this.

I rec'd an e-mail Subject:  FED Ex Post Office, regarding Postal Notification, Courier service couldn't make the delivery of your parcel.....
My computer was hit with a virus immediately upon opening e-mail.
Not 24 hours later I rec'd a phone call on my cell from Gooseberry or Goosebury leaving a msg saying I needed to call them back on the status of my computer.  I reversed lookup the phone # (1-650-204-4405) which showed it is located in the San Francisco Bay area.  The woman who left the message alsot had an accent who also sounded like a call center from India...
How did these people get me info (cell # and want to check on my computer)..........one guess?!
