Unknown number to me.

this is s virus scam from some company calling itself Gooseberry Tech ..for only $199 /m they can store n clean the computer they infected!! Call the next day with solution..really????
Go to the State Attorney General and lodge a BBB complaint

Yes, this is true.. we traced it back to a company called iHorseTech.. They are a company who is doing some very illegal and shady things and no one has caught onto the scam yet.. Someone needs to get the FBI involved on this one and take this company down.

It appears that this company is run by unethical hackers who are installing blended threat rootkits, stealing credit cards, and may be building a bot net to attack sites on the internet while getting rich in the process.

This is a professional scam organization stealing money and infecting computers.

This is one of the most illegal black hat scams I have ever witnessed.

This guy called me 1 hour after my computer tech support company cleaned my
computer and asked me if I was having a probelm with my computer, he claimed to be from Google.
I said yes but it was fixed and thanks for calling, he said to call him back if I still had problems, that
Google was aware of an issue.
I ran the computer for 1/2 hour and all seemed well until I logged onto GMAIL and the malwear hit again.
I called this guy and he tried to convince me to download a program so he take over my computer and fix
the problem. We never got to price because I told him I did not trust this method and I would have my
tech people work with him tomorrow.

Yes, this company's service is a scam. They are sayong that they are connected with Google.

I had the same experience. they represented themselves as being from Google and wanted to take over my computer. My IT guy was here and between us we got the name GooseBerryTech.com and determine the the above number was a cell phone (probably throw away) We declined. The est removal tool seems to be MCAfee Stinger Virus Alert removal tool. I will be writing to Google,BBB,FCC and The state attorney general.

Now I know why my computer died.  I got a call from someone who all they said was are you having problems with your computer?  Wouldn't say anything else.  Hung up on them.  couldn't even speak english.

This company has a sister company that hosts Game Servers.... We believe they are distributing viruses through banner advertising associated with a Yahoo Gaming site.  Please comment if you have visited any gaming sites.

This company is using SIP numbers in various LATA's.. They also have a number from Florida.

Unfortunately their iHorse company still has a clean record.. They should be shut down.

I am shocked by the accusations here on this site. All the information is false! I founded the business and have been in IT fro 20+ years with great reputation. I even do work for Public companies. This is someone trying to discredit our reputation.

We supply under the Gooseberrytech.com banner remote back up and disaster recovery services. If a client does not have proper up to date antivirus software, we do supply Trend Micro 2012 antivirus free at our cost. Yes, it is an official version and this is for our protection of our backup servers from viruses client may have. We also are an official reseller of Google Apps to SMB and SOHO business.

We have less then 1% issues with new customers and 80% of our corporate business is repeat and referral. Let me point out several things:
1.    We take credit cards we never get bank information
2.    We use BLUEPAY transaction site for processing so we never see the credit card
3.    Some clients send checks to the office and that is ok we deposit them in our HSBC bank account the same day by our bookkeeper here in Toronto.
4.    We are not selling antivirus software! We only supply it for our protection.

Filled out my information on the SMART FORTRESS 2012 virus' scam form including name, phone number, then realized what I was actually doing.. had to close my bank card, this wasn't norton antivirus giving me notification.  

Got a call FROM THIS NUMBER in hard-to-understand English two days later with somebody claiming to represent Google, then Gooseberry, asking if I was having problems with my computer.  Didn't get past the "who is this?" stage of the call..sounded phishy.

Coincidence?  Probably not.

I got a call too!  I actually was having issues with my computer.  They claimed that web crawlers from google notified them and that they are a partner with google.  Why hasn't google commented on this company being a scam?.  They had an answer for all of my questions.....but I have to say that they did fix my computer so that I don't have to run in safe mode....something other techs in my area couldn't do.  I watched what they did and how they did it to find the malware....I've asked for a refund...we'll see what happens.  I've called my credit card company to stop payment and start on a security investigation.
They didn't fix the computer as I have since found 4 more malware issues.  The credit card company has more $$ to go after them.

Gooseberry is a registered domain from Toronto...the address is a condominium.  I called the number for Ihorse and it's busy all the time.....hmmmmmm

My computer froze with a message indicating I had a hard disk failure.  An add popped up from Smart HDD which recommended purchasing software for $82 which would "fix" the problem. Turns out Smart HDD is a total scam.  Next day (exactly 24 hours later) I got a call from William at Goosebury, #650-204-4405 asking if I have any computer problems. The software contains a Trogen virus that hides the attributes of all your files.

My dad's computer got a virus called SMART HDD and it really messed with his computer. He tried some stuff but none of the malware programs worked. About two days after Gooseberry called. My dad actually picked up and talked to this lady who cleared the virus from the laptop and claimed to be part of Google but gained remote access to it. My dad was going to buy iHorse Gooseberry's product but I told him to stop. Giving remote access to a stranger is no small thing so that made me put up a red flag then after searching Gooseberry there weren't any reviews etc about their product. I did go on their site but that doesn't help much.

SO I searched this telephone number and saw what the others had to say and told my dad to stop what he was doing.

Just received a call for the second time claiming they work for Google. I didn't answer so they left a voicemail where all I heard were guys talking and laughing. Very professional guys...

Any of you who have a complaint, go ahead and file it with the BBB (Better Business Bureau)

I too had unsolicited call from Gooseberry (free call back 800-501-0334) w/offer to fix problems for either 6 monrhs or year (latter @ $200). Reluctantly selected latter. For 3-4 hours I watched caller Stacey White manipulate my screen. Finally I regained control, and after some false starts got my usual -- and somewhat improved -- home page back. Dunno re future problems, of course. Gonna try having credit card look into its experience. And I'll keep eye on $ accounts.

I note previous warnings of scam do not say they were actually adversely affected. Any examples out there?

It's a scam.  No legitimate antivirus company will ever ever ever call a home user to tell them they've been infected.  The only people who could possibly know who you are and that your computer is infected would be the people who infected it and are controlling it.

They've gone after my mother, and they're persistent as hell.  Never give them any information, and tell them you're calling the police.  This is simple fraud, and these people should be in jail.

I actually thought for a minute that Gooseberry Tech might themselves be victims here, as their website says nothing about antivirus, and maybe these scammers just impersonate them, but the multiple identical denials by their "president" here tells me all I need to know.

Exact same thing happened to me.  They catch you at your most vulnerable moment...watching your files disappear from your computer one at a time.  I requested a refund and stopped payment on my credit card.  Whatever they did, did not help.  They said they couldn't help me until I called a technicial to help me reconfigure my computer.  I simply used a free malware program my computer guy sent to me and he walked me through reversing the setting to hide all my files.  He said it was a virus and it was very suspicious that these folks suddenly appeared on my screen even though I couldn't do anything else or see any of my files.  Weird.
