I have an outstanding debt with EZ Corp.  EZ Corp indicated they sold the account to Alliance Asset Mgmt.  In January, I received a letter from Advanced Credit Recovery about the debt.  Then on Tuesday of this week, I get a call from John Puglisi with VCS at the 877-572-7572 number about the debt.  I have received nothing in writing and he indicated I had to make a payment today.  I also received a call from a friend I listed as a "personal" reference on the original loan application.  Puglisi had contacted her and explained he had her signature and SSN and if I didn't take care of the debt, she would be responsible for it.  Obviously they don't have her signature or SSN, but she is quite upset as they are contacting her on her cell phone and at home.  She has asked for copies of the paperwork and they indicated it was sealed and sent to the local DA for prosecution.  I got another call from another individual to pay and when I explained I would make arrangements after they send a copy to my friend, she also said the file was sealed.  My question was then why are you calling me if you have already forwarded the debt to the DA.
I have just contacted Advanced Credit Recovery (ACR) and they indicate they have not sold the debt and that I can resolve it with them.  I do have a letter from ACR, but nothing in writing from VCS.  My delimna is...I want to take care of the debt, but don't know who to pay or how to get proof of who legitimately owns the debt???????????????????????

first go to your local DA's office and tell them the situation and give them the # and have them call VCS right in front of you. Call EZ to see exactly how much you own them then call Alliance asset Mgmt. or advanced credit recovery see if they still have  your debt sometimes they have your "file" but shop it around to others so they won't do the work. pay only what EZ confirmed with you chances are they won't say your lying because they have the paperwork infront of them. after you pay get confirmation via email fax certified letter stating you paid your debt in full. OH and because you are in TX u can record ALL conversations!!

These people are the scum of the earth. They called my job and left a message with my employer telling them that I have been writting bad checks and gave a number for me to call back. When I return the call this Joe A??hole was just being rude and i inform him that i don't even write checks. I told him to forward me some info on the alleged dept and that if it was something that i had done or knew of, then I would take care of the dept. He kept trying to get my card or account info out of me. And he has yet to send me the info that i request from him.

Take responsibilty for the debt that you acquire. If you cant afford what you owe people and or companies then dont borrow it!  There is your statement "ought to be ashamed of themselves"??? For what? Calling people and reminding them that they owe money? If someone owed you money, then what would you do... you must loan it out with a smile on your face and and a big opening between your legs that says "insert here" .. cause your the only one that doesnt care to be screwed out of your money.... thank you

Coming from the people that are working for VCS????
" Calling people and reminding them that they owe money?"

I have no problem with bill collectors, as they are just doing a  job. What I have a problem with is receiving threatening phone calls and being yelled at over the phone by a complete stranger. I don't like having my character insulted. This "Joe" guy has been harassing me for the past month, threatening me (which is illegal) and leaving my personal info with other people (also illegal.) In fact, VCS does not even handle my account, somebody else does. This is what we have a problem with. What we consider shameful are the illegal measures these people are taking to steal money from people. Again, I have no problem with bill collectors doing their job. But I have a serious problem with people who are trying to steal my hard earned money. P.S. The only "Insert here" that I can imagine on this page must be on your butt.

Sorry to hear these guys tracked you down and [***] with you the way they did. Their methods are very scummy and especially on debt that is way out of the legal statutes. Luckily, they cannot garnish my wages, since I work for myself. If they try anything funny, their CEO Jamie had better watch out for his immediate family. I have connections just over the border that could make him really wish he had never called my number.

Be careful filling out loan applications! The contact information you put down can be used to track you if you default . Why do you think they ask for reference information and employer information to begin with. I didn't intentionally default on a payday loan, I moved and honestly forgot about not paying all of it. My references were contacted...and I called back and paid off the balance.

I had recieved many messages from Joseph Strouse concerning fraud on my checking account and telling me to contact this company, after many repeated messages I decided to contact them. Good thing that I did because Joseph advised me of an outstanding payday loan that I completely forgot about. He was extremely helpful by allowing me to make payments towards my balance.

Rebecca and Susan....do you work for VCS?  You sure sound like it.  Do you not realize that this company is breaking every law in the FDCPA book?  They are scum and will be taken down as such.  VCS and their cohort...Megan/Marsh-Lundy who claims to be working for a firm in Atlanta...will also be sued...She is connected to Jamie and his demented team as is easily found out by tracing her NY phone number.  How do these people sleep at night?

I have received a call nearly everyday...sounding VERY OFFICIAL and sombre in tone...using words "like filing an action in your county"...they also mentioned another person's name in the action(not my husband since I am unmarried) and referenced a property for which I have NEVER had an issue with (particularly with another person).  All of my business affairs are mine alone!  The way they referenced the property was as though there was an 'incident' there (very generic) and making you think that they really know something. At least 3 times the message was if I don't respond by the end of the business day that they will have no choice except to RECOMMEND action taken and that they only want to help me, so it's in my best interest to call.  YEAH RIGHT! They can go ahead.  (but they're fake and won't cause it will cost them $ to do so) Also, know your rights.  They CANNOT file a civil action against, only the original creditor can by filing with their attorneys.  These folks buy debt (pennies on the $) --if you have a creditor you didn't pay, you probally shouldn't pay these folks.  If you plan on paying the debt- pay it back to the company you were originally indebted. The original company will take the payment more often than not.  Also, know that bad debt can only be reported for a maximum of 7 years from the last payment made.  So don't restart a clock by giving folks money on old debt...you've come this far your slate is almost clean.

Thank you AMAZED you are so right.  Folks, realize that the responses which sound as though some light has been revealed and they are soooo thankful about "forgotten" debt are the very same folks many have commented about.  BEWARE.  Get your free credit report (1 from each agency once a year---you should check it every year for free)  annualcreditreport.com

If you do find this company on your report, check to see which company (your old debt) they are attempting to collect for.  If it's more than 7 years that you owed the particular company (the orginal debt company), you can have the credit bureau remove the collection company from your report by telling the credit agency that the debt is old and ties to an old creditor (use the dispute button on the computer or send the credit bureau a written note)

    Something mad
Someone named Joseph Strauss called and informed me that my husband defaulted on a loan with Chek n go(not intentionally) due to the severity of his illness. My husband was in a coma twice within five months and has been very costly to us.Mr. Strauss informed me that if he didn't pay the loan he owes , he would GO  to the nursing home and confront my husband personally. Is this legal or what ? Being afraid of his giving my husband a heart attack or something, I provided him with my credit card info which he set up to withdraw three payments in three months. Please let me know if this is really a scam, I am struggling now to pay bills and to have someone threaten my husband's life while in a nursing facility should be illegal.I am willing to repay the loan but not financially able to do so at this time due to unforeseen illness. If I stop payment will they have reason to persecute my husband while confined to a nursing home?

I have been receiving phone calls from them as well.  They call from a 716-831-9041 number and then say to return their call at 877-572-7572.  They just call and say they have a claim against me, but they don't tell me who it's with or how much it's for.  Then they called my parents looking for my personal information.  I don't know if the agency is a scam or not.  I have their address - 4244 Ridge Lea Road #6, Amherst, NY 14226.  A collection agency needs to prove that you OWE a debt and who it's with.  Also, if you go to their website - vision-credit.com, and ask for their contact info, they don't give you a number or address.  However, there is a place to put your credit card info.  I would ask them to send you a letter of the debt and who it is with.  Then verify your original creditor has placed your debt with this agency.  Too many scammers out there.  Also, you cannot be arrested for failing to pay.  This is a civil process.  And if they issue a judgment against you, you either have to go to court as the defendant, or acknowledge this is your debt.

Receive calls daily from 877-572-5752 ext 114, Jessica.  Threathens me with legal action and jail if I don't give her my checking account info. Told her I never received anything in the mail from them.  Asked her what address she had on file for me and it was an addess from 7 years ago!!!  Guessing this is not a legit call.  When I told her the address was incorrect she got mad and said, "too bad you have to pay anyway"  I told her I'd have my attorney call her. Not sure how they got my new work number though, that kinda bothers me.
