Hi Sonja Sparrow, I may have an answer to your cold calling. I use a system called Call Blocker.
Ity is a divice like a mini exchange and is installed between your phone and the sockect.
When a person calls they hear a recorded message stating that you do not want any sales calls or unsolicitated calls, and states that if the call is not of that nature ythe caller presses button 5 to connect the call.
This stops all autodialed calls, and if a caller ignores the message, you can ploitely ask him to have his hearing checked!
I have used this for many years and only had one caller who ignored the message.
To get more information on this Google Call Blocker.
Call blocker cost me £57 a one off payment

Maybe ok but nobody should have to pay out £57 to stop calls.  The phone companies must know of these phone call number and block them.

Had a call from an a$$hole who could barely speak English (sounded like he was from India or somewhere) saying he was from the U.S. Federal something or another.  I had him try to repeat who he was calling from three times before he finally got tired not being able to spew his cr@p and hung up.  What a bunch of dumb @$$e$!!!

If you get a call from this number, DO NOT ANSWER IT. Chances are, it's likely be a scammer/fraud. Answering this number will only make it easier for them to get your information.

been getting calls from what was originally a 212-345-7777 number, now its changed to 00000000. They say something about windows operating system service, then ask if I have a windows computer, or state that they are calling about a windows computer. They always have accents, originally was a man, now is a female. 3 Calls today. I hang up of course. They call regardless of asking them to stop.

Sadly you have no chance of finding out who the caller is, where he is, or stopping the calls.  This, as you have probably guessed, is a totally fake number.  It is generated through Skype or VOIP and is used by a large number of scammers.  As you will see from the other posts on here, the scams vary from accident claim scams to computer virus scams.  In the USA this number is even used for contacting voters to see which way they are voting!  To make it even more "fun" the number of zeros can be varied.
