I was called from this number today and the guy on other end of the phone told me my computer was really slow and I had downloaded files that contained viruses he then asked me to follow instructions on how to solve the problem but before I let him I asked him a few simple questions bout my pc like what was the make and model and what operating system I was running which he could not answer and then hung up

Just had a call from this number myself.  Had a string of these kind of calls lately, different numbers but got an idea that it's the same people.  Just starting to hang up on them straight away if they don't know who thery're talking to.

0000000 (showing up on my mobile's call display) called me at 15.20 h today (DST - Ontario) saying that he was from Bell Mobility but only after my saying "hello" several times. There was utter chaos in the background and I told him to stop using up my airtime and call on my Bell home number. No call came. I then called Bell Mobility and a service rep answered with his name, employee ID and no riot in the background. I reported the incident and asked him to check my account for an incoming call at that specific time. They apparently can only check the account 2 days after a call is made. If this person was misrepresenting with intent to deceive, these people need to be tracked down as there are some vulnerable people "out there" who can be so easily scammed.  I also said to the Bell rep that we know that call logs can be checked as law enforcement can get that information from 'phone companies when necessary.

Just had a call from this number they knew my name and said that they were calling on behalf of my phone provider, saying that they would be listing my name on databases that my number would be removed for nuisance phone calls and that this service was free. However there would be a cost for administration fees. I replied saying that my number should already be listed and for them to tell me who my provider is.

    They hung up

Yep they got me when I was completely stressed out and exhausted for various reasons. 8pm Friday evening, the line was very bad with that echo of my voice so I gave them an arsenal of weird sounds much to my families delight. It stopped a worried sounding Indian lady and she hung up. I am now turning the nuisance value on them and every time they phone I am going to have a wail of a time. I wonder whether they will continue

    I've had this too.

I suspect this is a case of "caller withheld their number" gone wrong.  Computers will sometimes be told to use zero as a default value, rather than "no number".

Do we believe all foreign telephone exchanges will handle "no number" correctly?

The number of zeros may give some insight into the origin of the call. UK telephone numbers have ten or eleven digits (meaning 10 or 11 zeros?) Foreign countries have different templates.

    But I'm only guessing. :)

    (Interesting website by the way!)

We get called by the 0's no. a few times a wk. Got caller list so we just ignore it or raise phone an inch & drop it back. Never connect or call back - it could cost u big time if they hijack yr line & call India or Africa.

this number has called me 4 times today, the caller ID says "station 125" on one of the calls, and the  phone number is 000-0000, one of the other calls the ID says" 0000000000", and the phone number is 000-0000, and another caller ID says" out of area" and the  phone number is 000-0000 ...This is extremely frustrating, how do I make it stop? So far I just don't answer the phone and let it go to the machine, but they never leave a message...
