If you press 8 they will know they have reached a "live" number.  On the basis that they may know your name and address they then have all they need to sell your information to other scammers. Even without that information they will know your number is "live" and rather than remove you from their list, they will keep calling. It's so obviously a fake number that you should just ignore it.

Indian sounding woman called from this number twice today. Said she was phoning from microsoft head office. I asked if they wanted to try to take over control of my computer. Silence but could hear what sounded like office noise in background. She wouldn't speak again so I hung up. Obvious scam and hope no one silly enough to be conned.

I just received a call from this number but let it go to voicemail.  When I played the voicemail back it sounded like the end of a recorded message, saying, "...press 1 to unlock."

Received several calls from this number claimed to be Microsoft Europe HQ in East London, telling me they keep receiving error messages from my system and asked me to enter an executable command line in my Windows command window. Seems they're trying to get people to install their virus/trojan/bot for them.
    • Caller: aka Microsoft Europe

I've had a number of calls from these people, and others on very short numbers, and they are from various companies wanting to know if your line is active (which is shown by it ringing).
Sometimes, depending on who's calling, they just hang up or try to get you to give them access to your PC by claiming to be technicians, or I've had an automated "Goodbye" before they hang up.
Either answer them and be careful or ignore the call, but NEVER FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTION.
They claimed to be from PC Wizard once, so I range the genuine PC Wizard to inform them but even though they were aware of the scam, they couldn't stop it as it's from India.

A woman who sounded like a tweaker with an Indian accent claimed she was calling from Microsoft and would be able to correct and speed up my computer. Told her Remote Desktop is intentionally disabled on my computer and she got mad as hell and hung up.
