They've called me 2-3 times a day for the last 10 days or so.  Calls seem to also be interspersed with 'withheld number' calls.  I have an answer machine full of silences from these annoying people.

This has to be the same old scam that was going around a while back trying to get personal information for the purposes of identity theft.  The only difference is now they are working on masking the numbers they are calling from so its harder to report them to the proper authorities.  I used to receive calls from them all the time after ~80 form 1088 complaints to the FCC the calls suddenly stopped for about the past 6 months.  They recently picked up again about a week ago but they are coming in as odd ball numbers such as this one.

these guys have just rung us 5 times in 30 mins!!
The first time I answered the phone and he asked to speak to the previous home owner, so I said well he's not lived here for 5 years, and remove this number from your data base immediately, we are also on the TPS.
20 mins later they rang again, me and my husband both saw the 00000000 on the hand set, so I picked it up and pretended to be old, and 'was getting my husband' then we played Mr Penut Butter Jelly man down the phone line to them for 4 mins :) result.
We've wasted their time for once.
until 3 calls one after another from same number..
if they ring again, i'll politely ask to be removed from the dada base, and then I'll contact Offcom.

keep reciving these call and there seems to be more than one company using this 000000000 number now
when i answered the guy said hello like i had called him! then he asked to speak to me by name and said he was calling about my BT phone line
When i asked him where he got my number from he said "i'll tell you what, you don't need to know [***] OFF" i wont repeat on here wht i said to him after that as it was VERY rude

someone (maybe BT) should be able to block calls that register as 000000000

I am Ex Directory, don't accept anonymous incoming calls and am apparently on the TPS and yet... yes you've guessed it, two calls at 13.13 and 14.33 on an auto dialler.

Is this a way of getting around the Anonymous caller filter?

    mrs peeved off
Continuous calls every day for the pastcouple of months - in one case i counted 4 calls but chose to ignore them.  I asked who they wanted and have told them that the person they are looking for does not exist and i have no credit problems.  Ive spoken to god knows how many managers, told them i was recording the call, have been told they are based in Leicester and still they call.  Sometimes when they ring so many times a day i've resorted to saying ill put them on hold and put the phone down, allowed my child to scream down the phone when they disturbed feeding time and now i just sing fck off fck offf ffffccccckk offf ....although my favourite response is to say theyre on hold and blast them with the stereo full blast...ask if they are still there and keep repeating this for about 10 minutes until they give up...perhaps it might register with them soon....hahaha ...

ps am registered ex directory, tps and fps....Hello?????

Ok, had some fun, thi snumber called again today at 16.15, managed to keep the poor guy on the phone for nearly 10 mins.

He was doing a "Credit Crunch Survey" I made him repeat it 5 times before I asked him if it was a cereal.. His name was Sunny, "Oh you mean like when it's real bright outside" said in a georgous mid western fake american accent. In the end he just said would you just answer the questions Yes or No...

Would you like to low your bills for gas and electric, "Oh honey, we don't have gas out here, unless you mean my husband when he's been eatenin those damn beans again...

Home insurance, oh well we can't much of that not since that last twister, damn near ripped every fence up on the property, tell me do they cover outhouses...

Bank charges? Oh we don't keep much money in th bank honey (he ended up calling me honey, rofl) and if that boy ever tried to charge me I'd have his ass in a sling... I taught him, no good little...

May I ask how old you are? Oh honey, didn't your mama ever tell you it's rude to ask a lady her age?

ok, so he ended up asking me for my postcode ( I gave him the one of the company in manchester that's been calling) my mobile number and email which I declined, some times it just pays to be in the mood...

Have a good day you all... ;)

Just recieved a call asking for a george maguire (have had an innumerable amount of these calls, no one by that name lives here by the way!) I aked who was calling and thay launched into their usual spiel. I interupted and told them that mr maguire doesn't live here at which point the asian woman on the end of the phone threw a wobbly and started aggressively asking why I did not tell her that at the start and SHE was having a go at ME!! (can you believe the audacity)!!! I didn't get the chance!!!! I'm getting really hacked off with these calls. Does anybody know how to stop them??!?!?!??

I am now getting calls from this number up to 4 times a day!!!!!!!!!every day during the week. They come from India and they vary from offering loans that will solve debt problems sometimes saying they are part of the govt. programme. I have tried asking them nicely to remove my name from their list to calling them all the names you can think of. They are thick skinned, always polite and are determined. When I ptetended that I had debts they tried the old trick of Ill pass you to the supervisor or the accts dept. They are an absolute bunch of pests and it seems even my broadband pronider cant stop them.

Had a call yesterday from 00000000 saying they were a Government Funded debt management firm to which my reply was I am on the telephone preference service, how did you get this number. He said oh yes the TPS and then raised his voice to repeat his first statement. I put the phone down.

Had another one tonight, same number, 'Hi this is Sonya we were in School together, dont you remember me??' in an Asian accent... Number 00000000.

Im changing my phone number if possible. Don't want my kids being pumped for information if they answer the phone before I can.

I called BT this morning and spoke to the nuisance caller advisor. The first number change is free with BT so I have done that, the advice was it's the best option as there are a lot of problems with this number. As it's international they can't block it or trace it.

For anyone who isn't aware, there is a service on the net called YAC which is worth looking into, I have one and it works fine. I will be using it for everything in future.
