This is a scam call to try and get remote access to your computer.  Do not do anything they ask.  See my post on Page 1 for an explanation.

This number has tried me 5 times today in the space of 1 hour 3 mins.  Reading the above I assume it is someone saying there is something wrong with my computer.  Where they've got my number from is a mystery as I'm ex directory and also when filling anything out online for merely information purposes I always put a false number.

I also got a call today from that nr but did not pick it up. After some ringtones it stopped. I remember having read in a consumer magazine that this is a new kind of piratism, when they succeed they ask people to enter some sort of code into their pc's which will enable them to remote-control the machines. This is most dangerous, in the case discussed in the magazine the prosecutor believes they stole data. BE AWARE and do not pick up or answer.

He called me too, same stupid unbelievable story. He hung up because I told him he didn't call from the UK, which he claimed.

If you are rude to them, like I was, I got called:
1) a beggar
2) a son of a [***]

Oh well LOL

They try to get into my computer.

Von dieser Nummer bekommen wir seit paar Tagen immer wieder Anrufe. Der Anrufer sagt etwas unverständliches und hängt dann wieder auf, wenn ich ihn bitte deutlich, englisch, deutsch oder französisch zu sprechen.
Es nervt wirkicht sehr!

This is a scam. They want access to your computer so they can get your personal details-bank , credit cards etc
I receive at least six calls every week.
I do/say one of the following depending  on what mood I am in:
1) tell them they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to trick people and steal from them
2) tell them I am reporting this call to the police and they are a criminal and a very bad person
3) tell them their family must be ashamed of them for spending their life trying to lie and steal
4) ask them if they have a religion and if their god teaches them to lie and cheat
5) leave the phone off the hook and walk away

Habe heute einen Anruf von dieser Nummer erhalten. War im Moment niemand zu Hause. Aufgepasst auf solche Anrufe. Ja nichts unternehmen was diese verlangen. Siehe all die englischen Texte von angerufenen welche davor warnen.

Unsere Nachbarin ist darauf reingefallen. Das ging so: Zuerst haben diese Leute versucht, verschiedenste Computer mit Viren zu infiltrieren. Da der Computer meiner Nachbarin nicht mehr mit einem aktualisierten Virenschutz geschützt war, funktionierte die Infiltration und der Computer versandte hunderte von verseuchten E-mails an alle eingetragenen e-mail Adressen im Namen von Ihr. Auch an diese Firma. Diese haben dann erkannt, dass dieser Computer verseucht war und haben am nächsten Tag angerufen, sie seien von Microsoft Support und müssten unbedingt den Computer von Ferne übernehmen und in Ordnung stellen und dazu müsse man per Kreditkarte 600 Schweizer Franken (500 Euro) zahlen. Das hat sie dann gemacht und diese haben dann Stunden lang auf dem Computer nach Bank-Daten und Passwörtern gesucht und zudem einige Programme installiert und per Computer gemeldet, dass nun alles wieder in Ordnung sei.
Alles ein Riesen-Beschiss. Ein Betrug! Das war nicht Microsoft Support sondern eine Betrugs-Firma, die sich hinter angeblich wertvollen Programm-Installationen versetckt.

Grundsätzlich verstehe ich keinen einzigen Menschen der einem wie auch immer auftretenden Menschen am Telefon folgt, um an seinem Computer etwas herum zu schrauben, ohne dass man selber um einen solchen Anruf gebeten hat.  Das ist eine Frage der puren Vernunft.  Im realen Leben lässt man ja auch nicht irgend einen Deppen an den Computer, nur weil der vor der Türe steht und sagt er sollte mal dran.

Mich nerven die Anrufe, aber mich haut vor allem um, dass da tatsächlich Leute drauf rein fallen.

I definitely can't understand how anyone would fall for this type of "social engineering". Who in the world does download software just because someone tell you so over the phone. Especially not, if you never initiated a call and never asked a know company to help you out in computer problems. How in the world do these people survive on the street...?

I dread those annoying calls. But mainly I am baffled that anyone falls for this kind of scam...

Much the same story as everybody else here.  Male caller, speaking English with thick Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi accent, though ringing us in Sweden - 18:37 (Swedish time) on 20th February 2012.  Claimed to be from Microsoft Windows Support, spun the yarn about critical errors and imminent data loss.  We talked to him for a number of minutes, but when he was unable to be specific about which of our computers had a problem, we smelled a rat and hung up.  No follow-up so far, but if he rings again I'll delight in some of the time-wasting tactics suggested by others here - thanks!

Yeah, I got called by them but I couldn't hear what company they were from. It was a female on the other line and she told me that "we have been recieving error reports from your computer" and "we could connect to your computer to show you the errors".

Right.... scam.

Same call this morning. Here is our enjoyable discussion.

A lady with an ugly accent:
'I'm calling on behalf of microsoft security center cause your windows computer......'
Me:
'i don't have a windows computer. Bye!' :-)

Got so fed up with these people I bought a whistle every time they rang I would say hang on a minute, get my whistle and blow it down the line at them. Think there are going to be a lot of deaf people who make these this scam calls!!  Do I care.....NO!!

First call to my number here in Switzerland on Tuesday, the usual "your computer support", a woman with accent from the Indian subcontinent.
Having seen this number on the display I say "just a minute" and put the phone away until the call was cut.
Now on Wednesday and Thursday again calls from the same number, when I pick up the phone, they hang up.
They had called my old mother last week already.

I wonder how bad these people get paid to do their job of lying.

They have a new scam - claiming to be your bank, trying to tell you your mobile's been hacked and money's has been taken from your bank account. If they know so much about your bank account, strange then they ask for account details! Oh, and by the way, the crowning touch is that they say they'll send a cab round to pick up the card, which has to be cancelled!

Same Indian accent as the guy selling the computer virus scam.

Just received phone call, was my computer on, its been sending messages to Microsoft and has many viruses and issues that need resolving....  told them I didn't believe a word of it, asked them to remove my details and then swore at them for good measure :)
