Oh dear! Had a call about a non-existent survey - the poor guy on the other end's only been working for them for a day or two (I think he was compelled to do so by Dundee Jobcentre) so I asked to speak to a manager. Very polite gent, very very evasive. When it became clear that I know a bit  about telemarketing rules he tried to sell me the survey idea, then couldn't say who he was surveying for, then admitted it was for their own purposes. Nothing AT ALL to do with selling therapies & pain relief products. oh no no no. Not at all. PI are just curious about what people think. Really. Couldn't stop laughing so had to sign off at that point. Could be an interesting Watchdog item in future ......

Someone claiming to be called Daniel from Pure Independence, wanting to talk about beds/recliners or mobility aids. He called me by name, and claimed that I had completed a survey for the company last year, saying that I suffered from "general aches and pains", and wanted to know the cause of these.
I have no memory of completing any such survey, would not have said I was suffering from aches and pains even if I had, and would certainly never have included my telephone number or given consent for them to call me (I am registered with TPS).
I suspect the "survey" reference is pure fiction, a standard part of the company's telesales script - after all, many people suffer from aches or pains, and will not remember whether they completed a survey a year earlier. With products seemingly aimed at elderly and vulnerable people, there is clear potential for exploiting the confusion caused by this approach.

Just had a phone call from this number.  I don't normally answer numbers that I don't recognise (I have caller display on my phone), but was expecting a phone call from an insurance company so thought it was them!  A very polite, wellspoken man called 'Barry' asked me to confirm my name, then when he said who he was, he just hung up and didn't say where he was from!  Very strange!  As with all other comments in this section I suspect it's some kind of scam.  I too am registered with the TPS and as soon as I get the first hint that it's a business trying to sell me something I tell them that I'm registered with TPS and they always hang up immediately.  I wonder why in some cases they hang up and then in others they do proceed in trying to ask about your aches and pains!  Is it something to do with whether you sound old or not I wonder?

They called me today and said that they were following up a health and wellbeing questionnaire I completed a year ago...rubbish! I asked them what they were wanting to sell me then hung up on them. It is a Dundee number.

    Not stupid
Call today from Pure Independence claiming they were following up on a health survey I had completed. Nonsense!  This is a nasty scam to sell their therapy products. I am ex- directory and TPS so where do they get their data from?

Just had a call from this number. She addressed me by name.  "Hello, this is Pure Independence calling back about ....." at which point I interrupted and said "calling back?  I haven't had any contact with you before".  She hung up!!  Seem to be getting more and more of these unsolicited calls both on my home and mobile numbers - I am registered with the TPS.

Just had a call from a polite lady, who knew my name and said I had completed a health questionnaire last year, which I hadn't! I immediately got suspicious and blocked all calls from this number. On reading all the comments, I'm glad I did.

    EX Worker Pure Independence
I worked for this company, not through choice ( sent by jobcentre )
    Appauling place to work
sit at a computer linked to a telephone, computer generated  calls, only details they have are telephone number. name & address -( which they have bought from another company) - they are  only interested in pensioners answering calls.
read a script - lying to pensioners, saying they completed a health survey 12 months ago -- LIES!!! there was NO survey.
purpose of call is to talk/push  pensioners into accepting a sales rep to call at their home - under the pretence that they will receive a FREE TRY of a therapy mat - TOTAL LIES ---- this is a HARD SELL to buy a bed / mattress / chair ... costing THOUSANDS £££ - absolute sickening - conning old people out of their savings
we were on a bonus for every sale that the salesmen made, and the office manager was on huge bonus - so we constantly were under pressure to hit targets everyday or be sacked - cant believe this kind of company is allowed - must be against law - heard staff say that owner Jim Foster has already been on Watchdog for conning old people.
MY ADVICE - ---- ACCEPT THE 'APPOINTMENT' - but have the police waiting at door to tell the SALESMAN where to go !!!!!

I received a call this morning asking for me by name.He identified himself as Daniel and said he was calling from Pure Independence.I immediately said I was registered with TPS and should not be receiving unsolicited calls. His response, and I quote,"Well there is no need to be so rude you don't even know what I am calling about".I repeated that he should not be calling and in view of his tone I would be reporting the call.It appears rudeness runs in the company.

Had a call today from Courtney and a company called Pure Independenc.  She asked for me by name and was laughing and giggling a lot and was not alone as I could hear another female in the background doing the same.  She told me I had completed a questionnaire a year ago and in a very patronising voice asked me if I could remember.  There had been no questionnaire. And I told her directly.  I asked her the nature of the call and She hung up amid their howls of laughter.
I have read comments on this site and relieved to find I am not alone but it is really awful being on the receiving end of this.  Equally I would not like to be sent by the job centre plus to work there as some people are being given no choice.  I used the tel. Nos. given by George (July) but they don't work now

The caller said I had confirmed 12 months ago when they had called that I have arthritis. I didn't remember that call but asked her to continue. She wanted me to try a pain relieving pad & give my " honest opinion" on it. No mention was made that they manufacture and/ or sell the product. An appointment was made for someone to bring the pad to my house for me to try. I was to sit on it for a short time and then give my " honest opinion" on it. Still no mention of any selling. Good job I looked on this site. Appointment cancelled and report made to ICO. Thanks.

Looking at this website it is dreadful that this company are allowed to continue to try and con vulnerable people. When I asked what the survey I was supposed to have filled in was about, the woman sniggered when she said "aches and pains".

Report them to TPS and Dundee Trading Standards (use email contact address). They know all about them and the more people who report them the better. Tell all your friends too!

Checking my Mums bank statement - she has Alzheimer's - and noticed a £900 transaction which set alarm bells ringing. She has no recall of what this is 😞 I checked the company name and found this forum. Am really worried now that this is a deposit paid against some ridiculously priced bed. She got conned a few years back for over £2000. Will post updates if I get anywhere, but any advice from anyone please
