they phoned left a message on answer phone saying nothing just breating

So sorry I missed this one.

It is not an old data base. My number is brand new. It is a ploy to suck you in. I just say "yes" to their enquiry "is that Mr Gough?". It doesn't half fluster them to get the name, seemingly, correct! They are not programmed to expect the name to be right. If you go through with this, they then say "we are in your area ..." I stop them there and ask what area that is - they often hang up at this stage!
When they leave their phone number, they must be easy enough to detect and, therefore, stop! But I suspect the phone companies are making money out of them - why cut off a cash revenue just for the sake of people getting harassed at home on a daily basis. This, in my opinion makes them complicate and they should be fined for it!

Call was about "later life planning". Obviously funeral plans. She tried to tell me that I had to keep registering with TPS every year. Hung up on her.

Peoplecare  survey - Suspect they may have phoned before.

Get a BT call guardian phone. Since we got ours the phone dosnt let them through unless they announce their name. Therefore we are not bothered by unwanted calls. Best thing we have bought.

I knew they would try because they also use https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02031988115 about boilers and tried from that number @ 12.16 today

persistent cold calls trying to get me to take out pre payment funeral plan and or power of attorney. Found myself agreeing to a home visit and when I tried to call back to cancel found that they don't take return calls. It says leave a message, sorry answer machine is full, then a dead tone. Someone will turn up at my home tonight and I have no intention of letting them in. I wished I had checked this before speaking to them.

They check this website., have chickened out on home security & energy efficiency appointments.
So what happened?

Called today no message

Polite lass, Scots accent, gave company name as "PeopleCare". (I did a websearch - all links are foreign!).  Claimed to be a new company, set up to support older people, started to ask about my life insurance.  Didn't give her time, told her i was TPS-registered and would be making a complaint - and so I shall!

another cal - unintelligble this time

This caller is repeatedly calling me but hangs up the immediately I say Yes to my name.

Called yesterday, know my name but I was out at the time.  Rung back just got an answer phone message that Ext 124 was unavailable.
