Persistant calls from this number,no reply when called

Got an unsolicited call from this number. They had the wrong name - obviously using a very old database. When I tried to find out where they got their data from I got no-where. When I asked to speak to their manager or supervisor I was told there were none available. When I said I would wait I experienced rudeness and cheek. Horrible when you are in your own home & the call was not wanted.

When I answered they said is that Mrs Brodie and they were from Age concern, before I could speak a lady said you have the wrong name and it's not convent to speak. They both hung up unaware I was also there, so how could two of us answer the same call.   I called the number back and husky voice started to speak then it changed to a recorded message

Asked questions about prepaid funeral plans, wills, life assurance,  if I received any state or personal pension and age.

They have obviously got their information from one of those Indian call centres that do "lifestyle survey". I told the last one that I was 85. I might go for under 18 on the next call.

I thought this would tell me who 'phoned!!! I want to know so I can call back!

Laura was the name of the operator. West Coast Scottish accent, as you would expect from the number. No company name given so unreportable on the TPS website! [Waste of time!]

Again tried me @12.08 hrs today. I've had a couple more numbers on the above list try me.

Pleasant enough call centre caller who knew my name (that bit is creepy), but told them I was at work (true) and he apologised and rang off.

The caller asked to speak to me by name.  I didn't catch the name of the company - something or other "Care".  I asked where she had obtained my number and was told it was on their database.  I asked why it was on their database and was told it was in their general "system" (which made no particular sense and didn't answer the question).  Asking "Why?" didn't get me anywhere. I pointed out that I'm registered with the telepreference service and asked why she hadn't checked.  I was told that "sometimes numbers slip through".  I asked for my number to be removed from their "system".  At this point she wanted to transfer me to her manager.  I reckoned I'd already wasted enough of my time, however, and ended the call.  I have made a complaint to the telepreference service (you can do this without knowing the company's name as long as you have the telephone number from which they called you).

Fiona, it is call blocker time. You can't reason with this pair. I heard their obstructive crap regarding this database and tps years ago. We all have. They don't give a company name while canvassing. They have called me from about ten different numbers.
