You might find it is Tesco Bank Credit Card - I got calls from this number and I know they have offices in Glasgow,

I had a problem with TESCO internet banking, a customer service person telephoned me from this number (I used 1471 to verify the number was Tesco) -

Glad to see this reply as I found the no. on my phone yesterday.  I have been unable to see my a/c online for over a week now[there's a national press story running about this], so I will get back to them today.

Found voicemail from Tesco bank, with this number, called them back and a message answered straight away saying that they called me today, thanked me for calling back and because it was not urgent they will get back to me next time. Didn't ask for any details or anything at all, most likely recognized phone number.

Received a call from this number, claimed from Tesco banking, and wanted me to identify myself by giving my date of birth. Are they kidding? If they know my date of birth, they should at least teall me and I could say yes or no, but they refused to do so.

Received a call from Tesco Bank today - operator asked for security details! I said no, I'm not discussing that on the phone. She gave me a security code and I then phoned their number on the back of my card. It is an 0844 number so next time I will be asking for an 0800 one. Security call about the last 3 transactions. not very secure as you can tell.

Yes Tesco bank but yes right to be suspicious, they have a main number of 0845671067 because if the dial the 0141 number back all it tells you is that it isn't urgent and they will call you back if it is!!!

They're not going to identify you with a yes/no question!!?! Obviously you would say yes?

So you could say "yes or no"???

"Oh yes that's me alright, please now tell all about my account and send me a new card to me new address, which I forgot to tell you about...."

Tesco credit card again .... asking for payment on an account that is fully paid up!!!!!!!

Called at 08:50 today.
It was Tesco Credit Card checking re possible fraud. They did say I could phone back on the number on the back of the card if I was concerned re giving some security details over the phone but I eventually decided she was genuine (after I'd given an incorrect answer re my credit limit that she picked up correctly).
For some reason my trying to use the card last night to book a flight, via Expedia, to France was flagged as suspicious activity and the card was blocked. Something had triggered a warning in their system. I had changed the direct debit arrangement a couple of weeks ago so perhaps that and attempted use of an on line travel agent was enough to worry the system!
Better safe than sorry I suppose.

I was relieved to learn they have offices in Glasgow as the caller had a nice Scottish accent. A bit softer than Glaswegian though! Even more relieved to see the people on here confirming it was Tesco!

Cut off after receiving bank details did not call back. Returnd call to be told invalaid number.

He didn't know my last name properly, asked for my DOB. Said my Tesco bank that had been blocked because of a bad transaction, he was very condescending, which I told him, I sussed him out when he asked for my sort code, I unpolitely told him what to do. Had a S African accent.

Tesco credit card called from this number to go through transactions using my credit card, they were not me and card had been fraudulently used.

I think you will find that is called data protection
