selling alarm systems. very rude on phone so i hung up, they then rang me back to tell me how rude i had been and that they wanted an apology....very bad customer service.

I received a call today from a lady who said that I qualified for a free alarm system.  I assured her that I already have an alarm which, if triggered, notifies the local police.  She seemed happy with this, but I was cautious.  After all how do I know that she was not trying to find out who has alarms and who has not so that she could set up burglaries!

Of course they would let you have a free alarm.  The only problem is that the maintenance charges they make would be higher than if you bought a legitimate alarm.  They tried it in our area last year, saying they were working with the police.  Unfortunately for them, I checked with our local police who, needless to say, had never heard of them.  The following day our estate was flooded with Police and Trading Standards Officers, going house to house warning of this scam.

Had a call from this number this afternoon. Believe they calles themselves Crime something or other. Told the lady that I only talk to people I know and hung up

Dont know why I allowed them to talk me into a visit.  Tried to cancel but the phone numbers are never answered.  Think I might contact the police.

Now received 3 phone calls from 01418890750 stating that they work for UK PROTECT and were carrying out a survey in an effort to reduce the high crime rate in the UK? (That's a new one complete a survey and you'll reduce the crime rate - must pass that on to my local police)  As a reward for taking part in the survey you could received big discounts from UK PROTECT on alarm systems.  They then start asking questions about the security of your home (which I refused to answer).   For the 2nd time I have asked them to remove my details from their database and to check TPS prior to phoning as I am registered with it.
Now reporting them to TPS - although I don't think they will do anything about this.

Several calls from this number, 01418890750,  1st. one answered, said I could have a free alarm, refused but still they keep calling. Now in phone display as "yet more c**p"., Being listed with TPS does not appear to help.

Female caller opened her call indicating that she was not selling anything and that she worked for some kind of Crime Reduction organisation. I questioned her as to where she obtained my details and she rudely replied 'the database'. I asked, which Database and she said that her boss had passed her details from the national database?? She then went onto say that due to an increase in Crime in my area, I was entitled to some free crime prevention advice. I again questioned what her asking what her facts were based on as public domain information and those published by the Scottish Government suggest that we have seen a reduction in reported crime of the last few years. She then very rudely replied that she had her opinions and that I had mine and she no longer wished to speak with me. I have concerns that if I had been an elderly recipient of the call, her indication that Crime in my area was on the rise would heighten any fear of crime and play into whoever she represents, scheme. It seems she did not know her facts and was quite plainly rude in her response.

Received phone call from this number tonight.  Female claimed to be working for a company called CRIME AWARENESS SCOTLAND and were working on behalf of another company called UK PROTECT.
Not "a sales call' but wondered if I would be interested in an alarm from UK PROTECT because of the high crime rate in Scotland.   When I pointed out that according to the Government and the Police that the crime rates were at the lowest she become a little bit flustered.  I also pointed out that I was registered with TPS so she shouldn't have been phoning me in any case.   She claims that TPS informed the company that there is a problem with the TPS system so to inform people that they need to re-register with them.  Guess what - that's a lie and when I told her this she hung up.

Male caller with west of Scotland accent identified himself as James from Crime Awareness Scotland.  Claimed that crime was rising, and that they had a partnership with UK Protect to provide security systems, possibly free, and offered a follow-up call to arrange a survey. On being asked, he stated his company's address was 7 Thread Street, Anchor Mill, Paisley.  He sought to establish whether a security system was already installed.  (UK Protect have a website which lists their address as UK PROTECT Security Systems Ltd UNIT 1 Anchor Mill, 7 Thread Street, Paisley, Renfrewshire, PA1 1JR)

I politely told the caller I wasn't interested and hung up. He called back and said until I listened to all he had to say they would continue to call. THIS IS NOT ON !
It's my business whether I have an alarm or not. I am very concerned about the information being collected and practice like this needs sorted out pronto.

Received a call this morning saying may qualify for free alarm system if aged over 57 and focussing in KY2 area for a couple of weeks as part of a crime raising awareness campaign.   If qualify, will get another call with more information.  

You will "qualify" because everyone does.  I posted details of this scam in June, as it happened on our estate. If you haven't time to read that, suffice it to say thsat the alarm may be free but the maintenance charges will make your eyes water.  They have no connection with the police, crime prevention, or Trading Standards.

Received a call from this number - company "UK Protect" saying they were in the area and I qualified for a free crime awareness session in addition to which they had a number of free security devices available to offer.

this number keeps phoning

this company said that a new law was being instigated by the state and my double glazing may not be up to standard .the new law could force me to change my windows.well i hung up but did a (1471 )and got there number and phoned them back and kicked up hell but i dont think it will make one bit of a difference .these companies should be shut up and the owners locked up.

£2.000 worth of security equipment FREE including installation etc. Did not know the cost of monitoring the system.
The person who would phone back would explain. I asked if 1471 would give his number and he did not think so but gave me 0800 756 5499 which seems familiar to me from somewhere.

I said I would check him out and give him a call back if I was interested. He said the offer might not be available as he may have given it to somebody else or words like that. (in other words no bonus for him). I said I would take a gamble and risk missing out --- quick exit.
