So, conversation started, can I speak with the owner of the house. I said he was out, could i take a message - no, but they said it was Affinion International and that the owner knew about them and id fraud. When i said that actually, i was the owner, and I'd never heard about them, they hung up. So,after 1471 and google got directed to this site.

My wife took a Debenhams card recently and was called last week be Affinion.  She told them she wasn't interested. This week I have taken three calls from them.  The last was a young woman who insisted that my wife had not actually spoken to anyone at the company and that the WOULD keep calling until they spoke to her.  I demanded to speak to her supervisor, who said that they were "having problems" and that my wife's name would be removed from the system.  Even if this does stop the calls we will still be complaining to Debenhams.

They say they are calling with some information to do with preventing identity and card fraud! Someone called Brendan Witsopp keeps calling me and has been extremely rude!

IVE TOLD THEM IF THEY KEEP CALLING, I WILL CALL THE POLICE AND OMBUDSMAN.

haha you sad people if you ticked the right box on your form when you fill out the application for store cards then you would not get rung, so your not innocent hahah, as i found out speaking to a lovely girl from affinion international limited and if you actually give them a bit of time they are talking scence and are offering a really good service you sad pothetic people, they prob will have to keep ringing as they do have to talk to the card holder so there is no point saying your not intrested on behalf of your partner as they have rung me up about 4 times and did explain why they needed to talk to me and not my husband come of it dummys it is data protection

This number has ben ringing me for months. When you answer the phone on one is there or if you don't answer it they never leave a message on the machine. I too have a Debenhams store card but filled in the section on the application form for my details not to be passed onto any other companies.

I received a call just as I was settling down to watch Neighbours - never a good time to telephone! The company wanted to speak to my wife about an "Identity theft problem". As my wife is currently abroad I was initially concerned and I insisted on being told what was going on. The usual excuse "I can't tell you because of the data protection act" was then trotted out. However, I managed to get several rungs up the ladder from the initial caller. All I could get was the company name: Affinion International Ltd.. They apparently obtained her details from a company they would not name. I persuaded them to do two things; take her name off their db, and send her a letter saying where they got the info from. Naturally I shall open it when it arrives! From what others say a Debenham's card is the likely source. The Wikipedia article on Affinion makes interesting reading, especially the law suit in California.

smallie you know [***] about the data protection act it is aload of bollocks and if you read down a bit you will see someone did tick the box on their application form for them not to pass on their information.  Why do they still ring me when i have already said no a few times.  get your facts straight!

    Call center champion
S... You are typical of the stupid, arrogant, pathetic morons that call center agents talk to day in day out. Yes dpa is a load of pig [***], but it is the LAW. Simple. So instead of whining like a baby and victimising people who are simply doing their jobs, get a life, and if you dont like phone calls DONT HAVE A PHONE! Peace!!

If they engage you in conversation be aware of what they say, my wife has just been hit with a £70 chaarge on her Debenhams card for Privacy Guard.
Have disputed the transaction but have been told that after they listened to the call (no transcript for us) everyjthing was sold legally and charge stands.
She received no paperwork for this nor has she signed anything.

See they were fined in USA for mis-selling.

You will all be glad to know that as of the 4th of September AffINION is not going to be calling anyone anymore. I'm kinda happy 'cause I work in the call centre where they call from and every time they make a sale they clap like a load of seals to get the team spirit up, but I know people that work on there and they're all really nice so I really feel sorry for em XXX

Just for everyones information, just contacted sky to change my phone number due to the ridiculous number of sales calls we've been getting, due to toucan listing our number without consent. What they said was that TPS only blocks uk numbers and as most call centres are now in india might explain why even if you are listed on tps you still get these calls.

Just to let you all know that the comment from Lee is a load of rubbish as Affinion is still calling. All theyve done is removed it from once call centre and transfrred it into another.

    Dumb ass!!!
