how do you get this number stopped i keep getting these calls??

Keep on getting called by 0161 4914333 when you call back it says the lines are closed??? I did finally answer the phone today because I am so p*****d off with them keep on phoning - they are called Action Legal calling about a car accident I had - have a feeling Fortis my insurance have passed my details on to a number of dodgy companies to see if I want to claim for my injuries.  Told them not to phone again............

kept ringing once per minute until i answered. As i was at work and didn't know the number i didn't answer it at first. But with their persistance i thought it might be urgent. It turns out they'd rung my housemate to ask for my number so they could speak to me about something i'd purcashed online. Why he gave them my number is beyond me. But they rang me saying they believe i'd been involved in an accident recently. Which i haven't. I was involved in an accident in jan 2008, it's now nov 09. I couldn't make out a lot of what they were saying because of their noisy background. But my housemate was looking for car insurance and had me as a named driver and had details of my accident which is why they contacted him 1st. But lied to him saying it was about something i'd purchased online, when in fact it was my housemates who was buying the insurance. They couldn't furnish me with any other details other than my name and fact i'd been involved in a car accident. But on all the insurance websites it asked if the accident involved any personal injuries, which it didn't so why they are ringing about personal injuries is beyond me. I hung up as it sounded suspicious and they kept ringing me back almost every minute. I've blocked their number now.

I used to work for Chameleon (Action Claims/ Legal is the sister company). They buy your details from your insurance company or those online quote sites and trawl tru the ones that have said they have had claims in the last 3 years. Agents have targets and are sacked if the don't put x amount many calls through to solicitors thats why they are so persistant.
The system is set up to ring back every 4 hours if you don;t anwer or if you say your not interested the system recycles your number to call you back again anyway for someone else to have a go at you.

Keep calling husband about a 3rd party claim against him, wont discuss it or tell him what its about, said it involved a Peugeot GTI, in March did,ent have that car in march, wont return calls to home number, just tell them to [***], Thats if they phone back of coarse.

People r so paranoid just awnser the phone and listern, its your choice if you want anything or dont want anything!!! man up ye!!!

Just had a call from this number and it was from a company called Chameleon Telesales and they were acting on behalf of some insurance company (after getting my number from Auto Trader. I'd used there car insurance comparison site last year..) and they were trying to sell me some gas(?) insurance.
Answer the phone when they call or call them back and say "No thanks" and that should hopefully stop them calling.

It's funny, I have no relationship with Chameleon, I've never asked them to call; that you have managed to buy my details off some website does not constitute a relationship.

If there is no relationship and you are fishing for details, what would you call it if not cold calling?

So many silent calls at all times of the day. These people are a pain in the backside. Have used the TPS to complain, still getting them. Its about time these firms were fined shedloads for doing this!!!

Had two calls from these [***].....it's the cheapest legalistic twisting to suggest I have any relationship with them....I don't! I asked why they were calling and how they came by my details and got a pack of childish lies and evasions in return. I will now begin the process of harassing them back via the Data Protection Act and the Law Society. I am registered with TPS therefore they are in breach of the act by calling me. I will make a formal complaint to them, to the Data Protection peopl, to my insurance company and to the Law Society since those scum are a law firm.

After further research I have established that the legal firm hiding behind this cold-call company is in breach of other regulations and had a written notice reminder of the regulations this year. It is explicitly illegal for legal firms to operate in this way. Complain to the FSA. (google it) They may well be closed down if enough people complain.

How can these people claim that they are not cold calling, when they clearly are.  They have called me about a dozen times in the last 3 weeks or so.  I did answer their first call and I told them I haven't been involved in an accident, but they still keep calling.  I just ignore them now.
