Seemed to be some junk caller selling solar panels from the message left on the answer machine.

I have been registered with the TPS for many years, not that it does any good.

Same call as previous notes - bogus selling of solar panels. If you dial the number you get an unobtainable tone so they are spoofing this number. It's about time BT got to grips with how these criminals hijack bt numbers.

Just hang up and lock your doors and windows.

My simple solution.
BT ansaphone connects after 7-8 rings. and I normally get a message left.
My BT phone has a caller display function ie name of person calling.
Possibly solution.
If you don't recognise the number IGNORE IT.
SCAM calls only ring approx 5 times as they don't want to kick into the ansaphone of which their call might be charged. IGNORE IT.
If you don't recognise the number and it is important, the caller should leave a message, as a matter of politeness.
REMEMBER
If the call is important to you, the caller will leave a message.

Right enough ,that's why I do I have always thought that if someone phones you from what ever number '0845 etc, 'witheld' 'unavailable'  or even a standard phone number IF the call is important then they will leave a message if its not then they won't ,so don't bother with it  ...but some people do and try phoning back ...why..??, you could land yourself with a expensive phone call just by phoning some of these numbers back ,still that's the choice some people make..!

Any criminal can spoof their caller ID to make it appear that they are calling from anywhere they like

Just add it to silent ring and ignore.

If it is not a SCAM call, they will write to you.

Yet another recorded message call. I now don't bother to listen to these calls and just hang up. I am registered with TPS but it makes no difference. I'm now getting a lot of these calls and have mobility problems, so you can imagine my frustration when I answer the phone.

If you check the TPS website, they do not cover automated calls and texts.  These should be reported to the Information Commissioner's Office.  It's easy to do via their website and you don't need the caller's name, only the 'phone number.

Hung up before  was able to answer it.  1471 reveals the number 0161 870 3447, but impossible to call back, just a message: "there is a fault on the line."

Just don't answer calls if you suspect they are scams and/or don't recognise the number.
If you do answer you will, in future, be plagued by many more nuisance calls.
We have three phones in the house, next to each phone is a list of nuisance caller numbers as a reminder.
If we receive any unknown numbers they are added to the list.
If you use a personal answerphone set it to 6 rings. You should be able to avoid scammers then as they will usually only use 5 rings before disconnecting.

01618703447 keeps calling elderly relative. Have tryed TPS but not working, how do we stop them from phoning?

Data blaggers... after your data. Just hang up or even better, don't pick up.

So far 1 call every day from these b******* and two last night, and another today so left the phone off for ages getting fed up with this lot have been registered now over 5 years with TPS and keep reporting them to ICO just exactly how many more do they need to do something about them.

Report them to ICO the more the better and quicker we hope they stop them.

Receive calls from NOBDY THERE over a period of time. I cant think of anyone in Greater Manchester who has nay business with this number, certainly not to say NOTHING. I dont care what the explanatio is.There is anurse here asleep (SHIFTS) and I want these [***] sorted out .

If these numbers are known sources of a scam DISCONNECT THE NUMBER ! They cannot use the phone properly means THEY CANNOT USE THE PHONE  FFS. GET IT DISCONNECTED !

this number keeps calling, trying to call back, makes my phone hang up right away as if there is an error, grrrr

Got a call from this number today at 4.50pm today. They didn't leave a message. Another number added to my blocked list!

Selling solar panels, I answered but just got a recorded message
