phone put down when I picked up

Received one call around 1.00 p.m. and another late this afternoon (could not get to the phone in time to answer it) but no message left so I have no idea what the purpose of the call might have been.

Recieved two calls from this number on two successive days at the same time, early afternoon, only rings for a few moments

rang for times between 6.00 and 7.00 get it sorted hung up as i answred

I have had a call on my phone from the above number at 15:20 today.  
A man asked for me and then when I said yes he put the phone down his end.
I dialed 1471 and found out that the number was not taken and I could buy this number if I wanted.
I am worried I am compromised as I have been on line banking today.

Called today, hung up after 3 rings, no message left.

today we had a call from this number while we was out i called the number back and i was told this number isnt registerd to anyone

Just had the second call from this number today. Rang off as I answered. Had the same thing before. What is the point of these calls? Who's getting what out of it?
It's particularly annoying as my dad is 90 and not very mobile and if I'm not around, he'd be trying to get to the phone.

I am relieved by these postings that the call only seems to be a nuisance, not a way of scamming my money!  Someone phoned me this morning and asked for me by name.  When I confirmed my name she hung up.  I got the number from 1471 and dialled it back, to be told it is an unassigned number.

If my experience is like any of yours, I guess I can now expect a call from Grants4U or some such company!  I will prepare what nonsense I will tell them!

Got the call today Tues 20th July, missed it so I rang it back the reply came 'if you want to purchase this number call???? at that point I rang off. I can only presume if you are stupid enough to want to buy it, you give all your details HEY PRESTO! youv'e been scammed.

Call received tonight - several others in past weeks.

I had 2 calls from them just now one after the other - and several calls over the last few weeks.
First time today they said it was Grants4U  and I told them I do not have cavity walls (1930s house) and our loft already fully insulated. Which is true. Moments later I get a call from a different person at the same number asking if I have a mortgage and that they are investigating misselling... I asked them why and they hung up!

July 26th Received call 15.47 answer - nothing then after saying hello 4 times a voice said goodbye

An easy way to block most nuisance calls is to put a block on the number using a cordless Panasonic phone.

Had a call from this company to mobile number which is registered with the Telephone Preference Service.  The Call diverts to my BT line and came up as 'Unavailable'. However the provider of the mobile number emails me with the callers number - 01792 720043.

Said he was from 'Grants for You' - could be "Govt Grants 4U Ltd"  http://www.govgrants4u.co.uk/  who hide behind a PO Box in Manchester. That domain name is registered to -

The caller put the phone down on me when I asked him to pause so I could get a pencil and paper!  

This number is allocated by OFCOM to 'Telephone Services Ltd' who the 'sublet' it to AQL Telecom  -  http://www.aql.com/telecoms/  .   They provide a Voice over IP service  and it is known that VoIP Caller ID can be spoofed.  However it should be possible to trace back to where the call is coming from. Pressure on the 'owner' of this block of numbers might help - AQL might not like receiving lots of complaints!   OFCOM need to move with the times as well re VoIP phone calls!

Despite being on the TPS we also keep receiving nuisance calls from this same number. When you ask for the company name they just hang up!!!! Grrrrrr. How rude, annoying and privacy invading. I've just written a complaint to AQL Telecoms. I know they only provide a service to these idiots but maybe if enough people complain they might ban them! Going to also try to complain to BT now....

I rang it back - the message says it is not assigned to anyone - so is available to purchase!!!  Do NOT waste your time answering it!!

Called - no reply when answered - no background sounds either
