Apparently if you just let the phone ring/dont answer, these auto-dialled calls disregard your number and dont fone back - the machine 'registers' it as a disconnected no.  Ive been bothered by too many of these telesales calls; I dont have a number display but have made a list of nos. to avoid.  So I just dial 1471 and if its a genuine call for me I phone back - the people I do want to be contacted by are in my mobile phone.  Judging by alot of the comments on this website, TPS doesnt seem to work!

Young welsh sounding girl on line asking if I had any outstanding loans or credit cards. Involved in a ten fifteen minute conversation before being passed on to their enquiry team A further 30 minutes of discussing my financial status with a pleasant sounding welshman and a detailed description from their advisor of what I could be expected to receive followed by a further conversation with a "quality control" representative resulted in me giving my card details for an upfront payment of nearly £700.

I have always refused to hand over such payments in the past but they were so convincing. Tried to stop the payment on my card with no success, phoned their customer services and was advised that I would not be on their system until the following day and to call back then.

Obviously this got back to the guy who had sold me the pitch because he phoned me back assuring me that all was kosher and that I had 14 days from receipt of the legal pack to cancel if I was still unhappy and receive a full rebate. My wife was furious that I had been stupid enough to pay up front so I can only hope that I can resolve the situation in the next few days by cancelling the agreement.

    WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

I just had a call from this number from Iphonic Claims (sounded like Planes to me) referring to a serious issue for myself as I'd been flagged up on a Ministry of Justice list (yikes!) regarding a overpayment of £55 on a credit card. When I pointed out I didn't actually have a credit card, he asked about store cards, when I also nope, how long ago did I have one, when I said about ten years, he apologised and rang off. Thankgoodness I found these these posts, was starting to fret about identity fraud or something.

O.M.G.   i wish i had checked this company out and had seen these comments before.
I have just been conned today by this company I even told them I was a pensioner and couldent afford to pay any money out. I phoned the bank to stop any money going out and in less
than fifteen minits they had taken £700 . The bank even found a number for me to ring
to stop them from doing a ppi claim and that was a dead number. luckily for me the bank is taking it up to
try and get the money back.

I received a call from this guy calling himself Joshua Murphy, he said he was calling on behalf of a company called Ifonic Claims.  He claims they are a goverment regulated company, and gave me a claim number and the customer service number 0845 8678770. He questioned me about past credit cards and mortgages where they could claim back charges that had been applied without our knowledge.  He wanted me to give him 22% up front for the amount he said he could claim back of £8,400.  I said I had to go out and asked him to call me back, needless to say I have had not more phone calls.

TPS admit they only help http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2013/feb/16/nuisance-phone-calls reduce calls because the shysters who do call are either scam artists, incompetent or find loop holes. If you have asked any firm to refrain from calling you and they call again report them to the ICO and invoice them and make £££'s

    * ICO www.ico.gov.uk
"In March we set up a survey www.snapsurveys.com/swh/surveylogin.asp?k=134674895144 on the ICO website so people can tell us about any unwanted texts and calls they have been receiving. So far we have received over 60,000 responses. We know the majority of these messages and calls have been made by companies who try to remain anonymous in the hope they can profit by selling personal information to claims management companies and other marketing organisations. We are using the information provided by the public to identify those responsible and fine them"

    * Invoice them for wasting your time:

    As reported by the BBC:

"He answered the caller's questions until he was eventually passed through to a UK operation, called PPI Claimline, and told them he wanted to be taken off their sales list.

"I said to them, you need to stop calling me and, I said, if you keep calling me, I'll charge you £10 a minute for my time to be talking to you," Mr Herman said, speaking to Radio 4's Money Box programme.

"I presumed that would be the end of it, but to my astonishment they called me again."
During the second call - which came only two days later - Mr Herman waited 19 and a half minutes to be put through to the UK operation, to confirm that it was the same company as before, and to explain that he was now charging for his time.

So, when he got off the phone, he sent an invoice for £195 to PPI Claimline.
At first, he got no response. So Mr Herman sent the invoice again, this time by recorded delivery. PPI Claimline then wrote to him.

The company said it itself did not cold call, but it purchased introductions from other marketing companies including AAC, a UK company based in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, which uses the overseas call centre that had first called Mr Herman and passed him on to PPI Claimline.
The company said there was no record of Mr Herman's number in its database or that of any of its partner companies.

But Mr Herman had recorded the phone calls. So, stepping up his consumer assertiveness another gear, he filed a case in the small claims court https://www.gov.uk/make-money-claim-online

And that seemed to do the trick and the case was settled before it went to court.

AAC, the company which had called Mr Herman on behalf of PPI Claimline, paid him £195 for his time and electricity, as well as his £25 court costs.

Richar Herman has now set up an internet site if you need more help: http://www.saynotocoldcalls.com
