This number called my mum, who has dementia, pretending to be her bank!   They said that they were changing the expiry date on her credit card from 2017 to 2016, and asked her to go and get it to check the card number.   She spent some time looking for it before she remembered that I have confiscated all her cards for this very reason.   She told the caller (truthfully) that I have done this and that I control all her money, as I have power of attorney, but he still insisted that she go and look again.  She asked him to write to her or send her a new card and he hung up then.

I am glad I now know from this website that the caller is part of the "Wellbeing" scam, as mum gets regular calls from them, trying to sell her health remedies, which they persuade her she wants, but she can't buy because I have her cards.  I phoned them 3 months ago to ask that they remove her number from their list, to no avail.  She is in TPS.

For what it's worth, I took legal advice on this, as she gets lots of other callers who prey on the elderly, and apparently, companies can't make a contract, verbal or written, with a person that has lost mental capacity, so anything she agrees to, or signs up for over the phone (even without giving bank details) can be cancelled by law.

Although comforting to know, it is still a pain for me having to cancel them, particularly when I am abroad on holiday, as happened last year!   I now have all her mail re-directed to me, so I can intercept the ones she doesn't tell me about, and cancel them.

My step Mum was called yesterday luckily while I was with her by a well spoken asian person who started by asking her name and how she was feeling. As a lady who had recently fractured a hip and femur and now battling a leg ulcer she said very well. she was then asked if her Visa had arrived last Friday, she said it hadn't and he seemed so surprised and told her she should have received it. He then asked her to confirm the expire date, did she have it to hand and to look at details….luckily she was quick thinking and said her daughter had her cards after which he said he would phone me!!!! After she had hung up we phoned 1571 retrieved the number which I phoned back with the prefix 141, on doing this twice I spoke to different difficult to understand asian people both saying the company was Nutrellis and Well being.
Hampshire Police are aware of these scams. This has been upsetting and disconcerting for her, but we have decided to block her card as she has on other occasions bought over the phone for other medical conditions.
These people are unscrupulous and scum to prey on the old and the vulnerable.

You are right, they are scum - just like "Allen tayler" on the previous page is, pretending to be a satisfied customer of theirs.

Exactly the same thing has recently happened to my 92 year old father who, unfortunately, is starting to show signs of dementia. More importantly, did they get a full refund?

Ann may not see your question as it is sometime since her post.  Before you do anythin g else, contact your father's Bank and explain the situation.  Get them to put a watch on his account and block any further requests for payment, as well as changing his card, if it is a Debit Card.  If it's a Credit Card contact the Card company.  Then contact this scum and tell them you want the money back. Give them a time limit for its return and point out that selling to people with a mental imncapacity is illegal and not enforceable.  Also contact Trading Standards and Action Fraud.  When you contact the scum tell them what you are doing.  Good Luck.

My 87 year old neighbour has just been scammed by these people, pretending to be calling from the benefits office told her she was due an increase in her pension and they needed her bank details to pay it.  Unfortunately she gave them the details, they quickly withdrew £288 from her account paid out to Nutrellis Wellbeing. Fortunately it was quickly realised what she had done and the card was cancelled, otherwise who knows how much they would have taken.Scum of the earth, preying on the elderly and vulnerable.  I have reported it to local police.

There is a special place in H*ll reserved for this  scum.  Glad you were able to stop the card.. The local Police will not be able to help so report to Action Fraud and Trading Standards.  Unfortunately this lot are actually in Goa and Mumbai with the accommodstion addresses in the UK to make them look legit, so what can be done to stop them is minimal.  Perhaps you could persuade your neighbour to get a call blocking 'phone and set it up so that she only receives calls from family, friends and people like her doctor etc.  That way she would be safe from these disgusting examples of humanity who prey on elderly and vulnerable people.

I was pleasantly surprised that the local police came round within an hour and were very sympathetic, they have liaised with the bank and they are investigating whether the money was paid into an account in UK or abroad.  Both bank and police seem to have taken it seriously and are hopeful that my elderly neighbour will get her money back as they think Visa may consider this action as fraud as although she gave her bank details, she did not actually authorise any payment.  I told the PC about this forum and the amount of people that have been fleeced by this 'company' - he was going back to the station to check it out for his self.
Good idea about getting a call block on her phone, I did mention it to her a while ago, will definitely action this now.

An example of the utter criminal behavior of Nutrellis is obtaining card payment information while pretending to be from Department of Work and Pensions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b067x3w1#playt=0h37m38s

Male called my elderley Mother yesterday in West Sussex. She is on Telephone Preference Service but does buy items from various mail order magazines.
The male wanted to confirm her Bank Card expiry date stating that he already recieved her account number.
She gave him the date and he then asked for her long card number which she declined and hung up.
The male then called straight back demanding the number!
Don't get fooled by these people - pass this on to your family.

My father in law received a phone call from this company saying they were from the healthcare industry and knew he was having problems with arthritis. He also has on set of dementia. We constantly tell him not to give his number out over the phone but for some reason this time he did! He knew straight away after he shouldn't of. I rang the bank and explained but they didn't do anything and payment of £286.80 was taken. I rang the company and they told me there was a problem with Royal Mail but when we receive the tablets to return them to get a refund. Still no tablets!!!! Bank have refused refund as giving his number over the phone means payment is authorised. My question is do we stand any chance of getting this money back. I've just tried emailing fhe company from their page and it comes up with this company do not exist. Seems pointless ringing them again as its so hard to understand them. Anyone help or advise???

You have not specified how the payment was made.
Go back to the bank but you must provide evidence to support an assertion. There is more than enough in electronic form but you have got to hand it over.

My nan received this tablets and a bill for £286.80.  When she phoned them they said they were free healthcare products.  I will send them back tomorrow and have emailed them but am not expecting a response.  I will tell her to contact her bank tomorrow even though she swears she didn't give them any bank details.  What kind of people do this!!

What kind of people do this? Scum - that's who. Low level, parasites who have no morals or decency. People just like "Allen Tayler" on the page previous to this one, claiming to be a happy customer of this company in order to try and defraud more elderly and vulnerable people. These people are sub-human scum and should be treated as such.

They are - as you say - disgusting. Do call them up and make them aware you know about their scam and that you will be reporting them unless they credit the money back into your father's account immediately. These companies have been closed down and fined huge sum previously, but only after being reported several times. Do not let them get away with this. Also make sure your father's account is changed as they will keep debiting it. Also ensure he gets a new number as they will repeatedly call him.
