THIS NUMBER CALLED A WOMAN SAID GOOD EVENING THEN HUNG UP I COULD HEAR LOTS OF NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND, WHEN I DIALED 1471 AND CALLED THEM BACK THERE WAS A DEAD TONE ON THE LINE...........VERY ANNOYING, ANY IDEAS?

the same number rings me every so often and i dont answer but if i try to call it back the line goes dead also.

I had a call from this number today at 16:16. Male voice asked to speak to my partner asked for her by name. I said she was not in he said thats OK and hung up. I tried to re dial the number had a dead tone!

Had this one yesterday,(Sunday AM), very annoying especially when your having a lie-in!! and are asleep!!

Number called me on my mobile today (14/2/08) 12.57pm.....nothing said, just hung up!!
When I phoned the number back, my mobile confirmed the number was not in use!!
I'm getting paranoid, Big Brother's alive and well!!!

I had a call from this number this morning 19th April 2008 , no message left on answer phone and when I rang it back the number was dead. Spooky !! I only watched "One Missed Call" a couple of days ago AARRGGHHHH!!!!

Same number, same story 19th Apr 17:30.

Contacted BT, they couldn't give a Monkies, said I should register with TSP (already am) then suggested I change my number - yeah that'll help.

BT MUST know who these people are.................

Very enoying this, have had 2 calls today & as you say when you dial the number it's a dead line.

Male voice rang me today and spoke to my fiance first.  Wanted us to take part in a survey and offered to phone back at a more convenient time.  I took over the call and told them we were with TPS, still didn't hang up, gave his name and where he called from which we don't have now.  Phoned them back and dead line.  Will ring BT on Tuesday and report the number.  Have told everyone I know not to take part in the survey.

This number has called at least five times (4 on Sunday, 4th May 08) even after my wife had refused to talk with the caller.

Said it was a survey - Thought he said he was from GFNOB?

Suggested legal action would follow if the harassment did not cease.

Just rang, can hear breath and hung up.

I called the number back and it said Sprint PCS for assitance with your service

my mum was at work so i couldnt tell her until she got home...

Indian-sounding man conducting a "marketing survey."

He said they got my number by taking the numbers from the phonebook and "random dialling" (they used that specific term), changing the last digit of the 'phone number. He was reading from a script and was told to say that in response to the specific question.

I asked if it was aware of UK legislation regarding cold calling and whether he was aware of the UK Telephone Preference Service. He said he would remove my number from their database, I thanked him for that and we each hung up.

The poor bloke seemed very depressed.

I had a call from this number yesterday - 31st Aug - at 18.13.  The caller, who sounded Oriental, said that she would like me to take part in a survey - something like GPSXX, but I couldn't catch it.  I told her that I was with TPS and my number was ex-directory, and shouldn't be getting calls like this.  She said something like, 'OK - I'll remove your number'.  I asked where she had got it from and she said, 'random dialling'.  I said, 'You mean, soemthing like the lottery - you just press a button to see what comes up?'  She said, 'Yes, something like that.  Sorry to have bothered you' - and hung up.

Further to my comment above, I have since contacted the Nuisance-call Advisers on 0800 661 441 (as given in the telephone directory) and was told to ring the Nuisance Call Bureau on 0800 411 422, which I have now done.

The female I spoke too was very helpful.  She said that, unfortunately, it seems that the call came from abroad and there is nothing that BT can do about such calls.  She added that usually, when you dial 1471, you do not get a number for these calls - they are unavailable.  She, herself, dialled 02071060330 and agreed that the number gave a couple of rings and then the line went dead.  

She said that I could change my number if I continued to get these cold calls but, as I said to her, being ex-directory and registered with the TPS, I only get such calls about twice a year.

For anyone wanting to follow this up the number is being used by Holiday Autos UK as of 5/12(sounded like an Indian call centre). I believe my call to be legitimate.

I got a call today from this number, could barely hear anyone!

Had a call from LastMinute.com on this number.

Had lastminute.com call me back after they made a mistake with my booking. This is the number displayed as their Caller ID. However, it seems this number does not accept incoming calls.
