I'm getting calls from this number every other day telling me I signed up to a modelling agency. But I never did this. They said they are from a modelling agency and they can make me a model and I will be making a lot of money. They only asked for £50 fee for a free photoshoot. I'm not sure if this is some sort of a scam?

I also got a call from them last week. I did some research and its from krypton studios. Same scammers behind neon models and capri models. Their previous company got shut down recently for scamming people. Looks like they are back with a new name,. do not register with neon models (www.neonmodels.co.uk) cuz they will send you to krypton studios and scam you with a woerthless portifolio.

THEY ARE SCAMMERS. Neon and Krypton (both inert gases by the way) are linked but it is useful for them to pretend they are not.
They convinced us to part with £50 "deposit". After we had paid this they sent a letter "reminding" us that under the Terms and Conditions agreed over the phone there was a £150 cancellation charge. This was never agreed over the phone!!!
They have caused us weeks of untold stress, and none of the consumer affairs agencies have been able to assure us that we will not have to pay more. We have given up on ever getting the £50 back but just want peace of mind now.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!!

They called me last week. I was told that the £50 was a 'deposit'. I booked in. Had my photoshoot yesterday, they did what they said (hair, make up, photos etc.) then they told me that I could probably get commercial catalogue work and said that I should buy £400 worth of photos. No, not for me I said. The woman insisted that I would stand a better chance of being taken seriously by the agencies with the photos. No I said. The woman asked me if I as 'serious' about modelling. I said no (not £400 worth of serious anyway). The woman looked a bit frustrated or confused (I couldn't really tell), then she arranged for my £50 refund and I left.
So there you have it. Not the nicest people in the world but they tell truth (or did to me anyway) :)

Call Trading Standards and get them onto it, it's their job to investigate scams, counterfeit goods, etc.  They'll be in the phone book, possibly listed under your local county council, and they will be on the county council's website too.

Kevin they asked you whether you're serious about modelling not because they care about you. They did that so they can play with your emotions and make you feel bad about wasting their time. The sales lady is in it for the money. She would have made a huge cut if you have spent a grand. She is obviously not happy you weren't serious about "buying a worthless portfolio" so there you go. What else you expect from these low life scum anyways. Scamming people for years and trading standards cant do nothing to shut them down. I would recommend everyone to make complaints to trading standards and try to get them closed down. Dont be under any illusions that they care about people. They just shatter peoples dreams and empty their pockets.

Cannot believe what a bunch of low life scumbags these people are... Anthony was who I was dealing with. I paid the £50 deposit, and told it will be refunded on arrival . I Was taking my 5 year old son yesterday 26thaug after every agency possible scouting him and him being accepted over the years, he's never wanted to do it, and he finally got the courage to. I recieved a number of calls from Anthony in the morning, I called back to confirm we was coming and on our way.

Anthony called back "hello darling" the usual chit chat, then asked if I was bringing some girl mates with me!!! Strange, he then started going on saying he will pick up my sons portfolio and have to email to the 3 agencies interested, as soon as it's done. I then confirmed that I will only be purchasing images if I like them, and may not get all of his portfolio from one place. His tone of voice changed, he became rude aggressive and started swearing. Told me that I'm probably gonna waste there time have a photo shoot done, turn up penniless and leave. In the end he left that, I had pissed him right off, and not to even bother turning up at the studio, and that there's no chance I hell il have my £50 deposit returned.

I called back and spoke to someone else, he apologised and I could hear him having ago at Anthony , he said I will receive my refund with 4-5 days. (We'l see)

So beware people do not go anywhere near these. And if Anthony does read this! I will DEFINITELY be getting my £50 deposit back! This was the number he was calling me from 020 3700 8318

Yes I paid on my credit card, and cancelled it as soon as I became suspicious. Such a shame what lengths some people go to, to get money. Hope you get your refund

I nearly got scammed by these, called and told me my daughter had a chance of modelling, needed me to pay £50 but would be refunded on the day of shoot. I didnt give details over the phone so they said I could pay on line, then I found this forum before I paid so didnt pay anything. Have had another call and a text message which I have ignored from 07860031200.....They originally called from the number above. Also gave me 2 different company names, Vanilla Modelling and Krypton Studio.

    Another Neon Models ex booker

I worked at Neon Models and I left because it did not seem right to make people believe that the portfolio was virtually a passport to getting into modelling.

Occasionally, people would call and say they wanted a portfolio and that was fine because that was what they would get, along with a list of agency contacts.  Usually though, people would send their pictures in after doing a search for modelling agencies.  They would be thrilled when we called them back.  We would congratulate them on beating the "competition".  In fact, we were each given about 15 - 20 photos that had been sent from the evening before.  We called all of them the next morning, in the first hour and a half, before they had time to do a bit more research.

At this stage, people would be told that they were invited to an assessment in London, to see if they had what it takes.  They could even be told, wrongly,  that talent scouts from the top agencies regularly drop in to see who is out there.  It was all about getting someone in for a photoshoot and buying a portfolio,  If someone aged 19 or 20 wanted to come on their own, they couldn't.  We told them it was for their own peace of mind and good industry practice.  It was really about making sure someone older would be there who could afford the price.

Staff at Neon were under pressure to make around three bookings a day or else. The turnover was high.

Many of you would have been told that you have be ready  to buy the photos on the day because for data protection purposes they would be erased after that.    This was all about making sure you came with deep pockets.  After you had paid the deposit,  you would get a call back from someone supposedly from the studio.  It was actually a senior sales person from Neon Models calling you to check that you were going to turn up.

When you have had your photoshoot at Krypton Studios, an "assessor" would be at there to tell you about the industry and of course, to try and sell you a portfolio costing hundreds of pounds.

The other ex-booker is correct.  We would be telling you it is a lot of hard work and that you need to be a certain height to do catwalk etc. so that you think we know our stuff.  You will be told that realistically, you should opt for magazine modelling and that only a few get into to top end.

I previously went on a shoot with krypton studios and had an amazing experience!!! I got signed to a contract with Littlewoods and am having my first paid shoot next week. I don't understand why so many people have had such a poor experience with this company, I'm thankful that  was not the case for me. All I can say is thank you to the krypton staff who have finally made my dreams come true!!!

I applied for the Neon agency and they contacted me the day after saying they thought I had what it takes into catalogue modelling. I was really interested in going through with the whole process until she told me there would be a fee of £700-£800 for all of my hair, make up, styling and photo shoots and by this point I knew they must be scammers. They didn't tell me anything about a £50 deposit and told me to bring an adult with me to make me more comfortable, probably because they're more likely to pay the fee, and also said they'd stop the photoshoot half way through if they didn't see anything in me. I definitely won't be applying online unless I know the agency is legitimate.
