Report a phone call from 02087804180 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Jim| 4 repliesIt is the police. It is a generic control room number meaning the caller may well be calling is a police officer/police staff or on behalf of, any police officer/police staff in London.
Anyone that says it is not, I invite you to call 101 to check your facts, then to kindly remove your post instead of scaremongering.
If you still refuse to believe me, then call 101 to report this number. Either way, you'll be told it is genuine.- Caller: Metropolitan Police
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- George replies to Jim| 1 replyWhilst you may be right, people need to be careful. There is a large scale fraud going on against mainly elderly people. They receive a telephone call claiming to be from the Policewho say their Credit Card or Bank account has been compromised. The callers say that they will either send a courier round to collect the card or will ask the victim to withdraw a substantial amount of money from their account and a police officer will call and collect it and put it in a safe place until the "criminal" is caught. They say that the vixctim can 'phone the number they are calling from to check if the call is legitimate. Of course, the caller does not clear the call and you are straight back through to the scammers. Whilst people may think this scam is obvious elderly people tend to be more trusting, especiall if the caller claims to be a Police Officer. There have been at least three cases in my local area where elderly people have been conned. This frsud has been mentioned in the press and one thing from your post I would agree with is for people to 'phone 101 if they receive such a call. They should, however, wait at least five or ten minutrs before 'phoning so that they know the line is clear and they get the real 101.

- Peter D| 1 replyIt is the Police, I reported a crime to do with work and it was an update for me.
It was the Met police for me 100%, possibly use this number for call outs from different areas.- Caller: Met Police
- mr joe bloggs blogger dog man replies to Peter DThis is the police, i tried to call it back when i got a missed call but it said it doesnt accept incoming calls.. i did however have a voicemail left by a DC who was looking into a burglary at my place (colindale police). i called him back on a differnet number which he had left me. its because so many people do not answer calls from withheld numbers these days but the polcie dont want to receive a big heap of calls back to keep them busy (hence the switch to the 101 number which is chargeable whereas 999 wasnt).
sod the police, theyre a bunch of tossers mostly, but thus number is definitely coming from the pig farms - DCIt is a genuine number used by the Met Police for outgoing calls only, however be aware that it is not difficult to send fake caller ID numbers and is being used as a basis for scam calls, which it seems that some people are receiving when this number is displayed. Good advice above, if you aren't expecting contact from the Met it is likely to be an attempt at phishing using a spoofed ID. Call 101 and check with the police directly if you are unsure.
- Caller: Met Police Croydon
- sbmerton police called me today off it
- Caller: merton police
- RazThis is a Police number.
All the police phone lines dial out from a withheld number. Some phones are set not to accept withheld numbers so officers dial a code before the number so the phone line generates a number and be accepted by them. - shagnastieBromley police
