Received call yesterday (July 17) from someone calling himself "Adrian" who said he was offering installation of £1000 worth of free home security equipment by Onguard24.  When I asked, he gave their correct Coventry address and talked a lot about the company's policy, certification, co-operation with the police, etc..  He wanted someone from the company to visit my wife and myself at our home.  We agreed at first, but have since cancelled.  When asked how he had secured my telephone number and address, and why we had been "selected" for this special offer, he said he did not know. He said that we were just the next people to appear on his computer.  He also claimed to have secured seven "free offer" deals from people in Cheltenham. On reflection, this certainly sounds like a scam.

Have just received a call from home guard 24 ---- everything appeared to be very interesting and above board until I started talking appointments!!!!!!!!!

Alarm Bells started ringing when they realised I would not make an immediate appointment as I wanted my daughter to be with me.   They then asked if anyone else lived in the property.

At this point I cancelled all dates suggested and said I really was not interested.

IT WAS ONLY AFTER I PUT THE PHONE DOWN I REALIZED I HAD UNWITTINGLY GIVEN THE INFORMATION THAT I WAS ALONE IN THE HOUSE.

PLEASE BE AWARE ---------- I consider myself to be an intelligent person who would not usually consider buying anything from a cold call  BUT !!!!!!!

Called by a company called Onguard 24 trying to sell me a security system . Told them I was registered with the Telephone Preference Service and the caller apologised for ringing me saying it was a mistake. But the've obviously been making a lot of similar mistakes !!!

I can understand why you'd feel like that but I've looked into this company a bit more.
They are a SSAIB approved company so I don't think you need to worry.
They will have to be registered with the UK police forces.

Actually Susan I think you're wrong.
I've looked into this company and they are actually genuine.
In actual fact thy're an approved installer (SSAIB)
They're still going strong.
Why do you think they prey on vulnerable people?
I guess its natural to be suspicious of cold calling.

Have you ever heard the saying "liars should have good memories"?  Back in January you posted that you had arranged a visit from this company.  You asked if they were a scam or not.  In February someone asked you how you had gone on.  You did not respond.  Now, suddenly, you have "looked into the company". That is 10 months after your "appointment", so which is it??  I too had a call from them, claiming they were taking part in a "crime reduction initiative", with the local police.  I checked with the local police, who had never heard of them. (Perhaps they were not one of the 240 police forces). They did however, agree with me that they were offering security systems at a low price, but with an extortionate "monitoring fee".  The next day, the estate was flooded with Police and Trading Standards Officers going from door to door and warning people to be wary of these calls.  I would be wary of trusting any company which had "Phoenixed" four times in six years.  By the way did you know we don't have "Police Chiefs" in the UK.

First of all like to say this company are a bunch of scamming idiots worked for them a whole money owed me over £300 pounds in money. Tried and tried getting money out of them, Last time rang got told to F off by the stuck up Manager which is Paul or should I say the owner company Director!, They don't care about the elderly or anybody bunch of robbing sods if you ask me, Was told to make many appointments as I can nothing was mentioned about looking out for elderly people whether they have disabilities or not, Paul is complete scum bag the owner, Wish had the money take this disgusting company to court for money they owe me for my employment there, Now I know why they can NOT keep there staff, They are also phoning people who are on the telephone preference service (people who opt out getting cold callers phoning them), DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, They rip customers and staff off, A complete joke of a company to be perfectly honest! This company should be ran out of business disgusting way they operate! Lied about comission etc everything is lies about this company!

Trevor the (SSAIB) don't regulate these companies have a uncle works for a similar company to onguard24 so don't let that fool you. It's a what I would describe a mickey mouse organisation easy to gain membership as long as you pay the yearly membership costs.

They also say there only in the area for a SHORT TIME ONLY again a marketing tool! Have whole script can publish on here what the telesales staff have read from. this company has now moved to the quadrant in coventry they are still treating staff like rubbish and still conning people out of life savings etc,the only help the public need is to be safe against these group of conmen

They scammed my elderly mother for about £4K for an extremely cheap and poor quality alarm, probably you could buy the alarm for £150.  It has gone wrong after a couple of years and is useless.  Immoral company preying on the elderly and vulnerable, deal with them at your peril.

Worked for onguard24 in 2013 for about a month paid me one week I handed my notice and they still owe me over £300. Tried and tried to get my money back phoned once spoke to Paul the idiot Director so he calls himself got told to F off he did and said this cause he knew I DID NOT have means to sue him! They are liers treat staff like rubbish when I was there they always had staff leaving and new ones coming in! Because they treat staf like crap to be honest! They phone people on the DO NOT CALL LIST which is illegal! DONT DO BUSINESS with them! Hope Paul gets whats coming to him oneday by this I DO NOT mean violence! Karma is on hes way to him! My Last message I put on here with my real name I had a letter off hes solicitor threating me he would take me to court for posting lies! THEY ARE NOT LIES! Have a script from company from my time there happy to post it! They lie saying they are in the area for a short amount of time doing a crime prevention awarness etc it's bull! They say they are polcie approved! BULL and organisation they are memebers from its as easy as pay membership fee and your a mumber! They prey on old people a lot! Was NEVER told to not sell to people who did not know what they were doing! Was talk book as many appointments as possible! If they say yes its a yes company policy! no matter whether its a 85 year old woman who bless her may not be able make decsions for herself! The £1000 of FREE equipment is bull the equipment belongs to them if you ever leave them they demand it back else legal action is sought! Can't believe this company are still in Business! Did some research they have changed there name a few times in the last 10 years! Dodgey to the core! I worked there 2 years ago and they are still in Business! Lets hope Paul don't loose all hes money at once!
