Ha, thank you guys, looks like you just saved me a lot of money and hassle!  I take out a fair amount of advertising and the first thing that I thought odd was the generic name, as I tend to advertise in education-specific publications. Then the fact that they wanted a card no. and payment there and then, when everyone else I use sends me an invoice.  I said I'd pay by BACS if they sent me an invoice and they then called me 6 times in the next few hours trying to confirm whether the payment had been sent. Thankfully it takes an hour or so for new payees to get authorised through my banking system and I was getting the [***] with the constant phone calls, which also tweaked my radar.  I do not like the hard sell approach with anything and this just seemed all about them getting the money.  I thought I'd run a little check and found this! Yes, they were promising the earth for a stupid price, promising massive distribution of 60,000 with two thirds of the emails being definitely opened (if there are 40,000 schools in the area "James" said the publication covered I'd be impressed - there's only 21000 primary schools in the whole UK).  Very slick sales patter, nice and friendly and very chatty, not really letting you get much of a word in, but very good at redirecting and getting you off the subject with a quick "I'll be honest with you..." and move you along to whatever he wants to tell you without actually answering the question.
Sorry James, I'll be cancelling my order and thankfully hadn't got around to sending the BACS yet.  Don't worry though, if this all falls through you have great career ahead of you as a politician.

Super slick sales call offering advertising in the South East Recorder. I paid £60 but realised my mistake shortly after , I received no calls or extra intrerest in my business. So changed my bank card accordingly.
