- Malcolm GardnerHi there,
I too got a call from a indian call centre, a man named Mark said my computer has many dangerous files that are corrupt and will eventually slow down my computer to a stop.
They went through the command promt exercise, by asking my to put in "inf risk" and showing me all the many files, as well as showing me in "Computer" where all these files are sitting and being downloaded because my firewall is not working properly.

- MausRemember this number. I asked to speak to an australian and laughed at three people trying to sound aussie. Asked for ABN number and they said 400069788948326. Never seen an ABN that long. They are stalkers and Westpac advised me its a scam.
- jaydenIts a scam any body telling you it isn't is a part of it.
How do they get away with using the same number for so long?
Microsoft seem aware of it cause they have advice on how to deal with it. Why don't they actually do something about it?

We had two call's from them last night first at 5pm and my mum told them we did not have a computer and asked for there name and number which they gave her. Then at about 8pm they called back and I answered the call. The same usual spin "hello I'm a microsoft technician and you have virisus on your computer". I said it's ok I can fix it myself as I work for 'MICROSOFT" and guess what the phone
went dead silent and they hung up on me. Hopefully they won't be calling back.- Caller: Uknown
- DaveYeah i've been getting calls as well. I said i had a mac, and they hung up straight away. The second time, i mentioned something about being from the police and they hung up, moments later another guy from the same place called and asked if it was really the police and i just got real angry and told him to stop calling, nothing back yet....hopefully they stop calling!
- chrisI just got a call and I thought it sounded authentic as i have been haveing trouble with my computer running very slowly and randomly disconnecting from I/Net.
They wanted access to my computer to fix the problem & pay $99 for ongoing protection I told them i would call them back & they gave me this number which i then googled & got this site.- Caller: Windows Tech ??
- jp| 1 replyThis is a SCAM do not give them any details. I have a mac and they rang my partner who is, how do I say this, very technologically challenged - but luckily even he smelt a rat and told them he would get me to ring. I just googled the number and found this thread. Like someone else - it's interesting, I recently bought Office for Mac - bit of a coincidence Microsoft Australia??? Could it be that one of their staff who has access to registration details is doing this? Who would know. Anyway, I would not tell them anything.
- Caller: Some "Windows" mob
- IbHuntDon't know who these people are but they called today (12/12/11) and said they were from Chatswood ant that my operating system has been compromised - and that the firewall is not working and is causing a malfunciton in Windows.
- NinjaThey called my wife today and told her they were a Windows Service Company. Same deal - major security issues with her computer. She asked for their number and called them back. She was not convinced and hung up. They rang again. She told them they were scammers and not to call her again. We'll see what happens.
