I just got a call from this scam and I didn't give them my details but he said they already had them and when I said no you don't he told me all my details they already have them he said just to ring the number and they would post me out the check im worried if they already have me details why ask for them and what can they do with them

I too Received call from this number. A man says that he was calling from ATO. He was asking me that why I received a refund of $5208 (in fact I have not received any refund). I asked him to provide me his name and contact details to call back as I doubt him that he is not from ATO. He gave the number 02 80075535. I called ATO and reported this scam call.

For testing, I called that number - it was ringing. Meaning that the investigating authorities can track the physical address of this phone. Hope ATO takes the issue to the next step and put these scammers behind bars.

Yep, Just got a call from a person with an Indian accent. He was calling from an internet line and was mispronouncing my address. Tried getting some info, ie DOB and bank details. I told him that I didn't trust him and that I'd call back. gave me this number 0280075535 then he hung up .

Just got the call from the guy with the Indian accent. Same deal, apparently a refund from the government but needed my details first. He recited my address and asked for DOB which I gave him an incorrect one along with a bank I'm not using. Apparently this information was all correct and confirmed and told to call the 0280075535 number in 10 minutes to talk to his manager about the refund. Laughed at him and told him I wasn't stupid enough to fall for his scam and hung up. It worries me how many people would actually believe this and go through with it.
