Had a text message today from this number claiming to be a TV licence campany asking me to call them

I got this message too. I've had five now and it's getting really annoying.

Same here I've had 2 texts. Not done anything though except try to find out more about it... :)

I got a text message from them today on my mobile number. It said it was from TVLicensing and reads:- TV Licence payment remains overdue. To clear your arrears you must pay £2.00 today. For help and advice call 0300 555 0293.

I presume this is some sort of scam, as I know that our TV licence is already paid up to date.

If you know you licence has been paid, I would ignore this. I don't know how much it costs to ring this number, and have no intention of finding out. I don't believe you would even get through to the real legitimate TV Licensing office. I imagine it's some scammer who will just try to take your card details over the phone so that they can use it fraudulently.

I received a text today from people claiming to be TV Licensing asking for £5.60 to cover the overdue amount on my account.  I know that I pay this by direct debit and looked into this when I got home.  This is a scam - DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY OR EVEN CALL THEM if you receive a text like this or you will lose a lot of money once they have your debit/credit card details.

just got one like this today, from "TVLicensing" . Reads "TV Licence payment overdue. To pay 2.50 pounds either call 03005550293 or pay at a local PayPoint outlet - Grampain Supermarket; 4 Grampain Shopping Centre" what c-nts!

Ive just had this too, i wouldnt reply incase it charges you.

same here, got 2 messages already and as I'm up to dste with payments and b/c the amount doesn't match my monthly DD it's clear it's a dodgy text.

Same here. I have got a text message today ( March 2011) advising that the payment of £ 216. is overdue.
I know for a fact that the payment is Not overdue. Definetely a scam....

What a waste of space these people are...

I've had about four of these texts from "TV Licensing" in the last year.  Interesting as mine is an emergencies only mobile and our TV Licence is in my partner's name, paid by direct debit.  Really annoying.

I have already had two texts from these people. However I know the real TV Licensing people won't have any of my details as I have never paid for a TV licence myself. This has to be a scam.

i've been replying to these txts for almost a year and this is the only way i've been paying my tv licence and 2 months ago i recieved my licence through the door so it cant be a scam also it shows on my bank statement this is the only amount coming out my bank each month. phoned the tv licensing company after reading these msgs and im all up 2 date

That's very odd.  I have also received one of these texts.  However, I have been paying my license by direct debit for over 10 years.  My account is up to date and I received my new license 2 months ago.  

What is even stranger is I only use my phone for emergencies (it's a pay and go mobile) and no one other than my family have my number.  It has to be a scam.

yeah got this 1 yesterday we pay on the saver card so knew this is a scum scam. lovely just bfore xmas. hope no1 fell for it.

same here, they got my number of gumtree com website, but knowing these bas..rds I only post backup number I never use and let them send txts to unused phone :)) take a free SIM anywhere and use that number online, once you finished using it just put in the drawer !

how can anyone be so silly to do what anonimous message tells them to do?? no wonder they use these scums AS THEY WORK obviousely with naive people born yesterday!

You are obviousely lying and probably are involved inthis  scum, hope you spend all the scum money on cancer treatment for yourself! leave us alone!
