- Arthur MacNeilthey are 100% not fake! check this out=) http://www.newcastlefis.org.uk/kb5/newcastle/ ... ?id=V4NCGZD5L1c or this
http://opencharities.org/charities/513820 - Arthur MacNeil| 2 repliesthe workers are from Scotland, Russia and I know couple from England!
- jed replies to Arthur MacNeil| 1 replyAre you working for them? You seem to be determined to prove that they are legitimate. My bag is certainly going back empty.
- Alison replies to Tom| 1 replyWe are also in Scotland, and always check whether it is a registered Scottish charity as well. This company, Unicare, does not have a separate Scottish charity number, and therefore is not registered to collect in Scotland. I always look for this, and bin any that are not registered here.. Best consensus of advice is - take your donations to a local charity shop - there are plenty of them!
- Old-Mother-RileyI have checked previously with the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator who were adamant that as long as a Charity is registered with a genuine number it is perfectly at liberty to conduct operations in Scotland. I pointed out that I was equally at liberty to refuse to refuse to have dealings unless they took the trouble to register in Scotland.
- Arthur replies to jedCouse I worked there....and i can tell you....50% of charity bags are fake....if not even more. Cooping with cancer are real...if you are not sure...just stop the collection man...ask for ID. Do not write a [***]!! The registration number mustn't be registred in Scotland....its enough if its registred in UK. Dont be dumbass.
- Arthur replies to Alison[***]...I know that industry...its fake....they reseling clothes. Like many of them!
- natalie replies to CharlieWell it is all a very vague and ambiguous area, as My friend is Ukrainian and has a very big business of Used clothing in Ukraine, apparently Oxfam sells most of the clothing that people donate to them here in UK to those countries with big profit margins...
- Hannah JonesI recently received a bag on behalf of National Kidney Federation. I know some of the bags that get delivered are fake but a lot are genuine so I called the number on the bag to just double check. My concern was quickly reassured by a friendly lady who informed me that Unicare Ltd collect on behalf of Coping with Cancer NE, National Kidney Federation and Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance and that if I ever had any concerns about the collectors to ask them for ID as all their collectors carry ID. I also checked in with the charity themselves who confirmed the partnership and how the money raised was helping.
May only go a small way to helping but my bag gave the chance for a little clear out- Caller: Non for profit organisations
- Jess GI've had a bag through the mailbox from these people. Like all the charity bags that I leave out empty (not uncharitable, just have nothing to give away) this unused one was not collected. Since it had this number on I called it. There was no welcome message. It just started playing Chariots of Fire music at me. Seemed like a scam to skim money off my phone bill so I gave it a few seconds and hung up. Who runs a legitimate business or charity but has no message on their phone line? Not professional or faith-inspiring. Just dodgy.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- K Coffey replies to TomI live in Perthshire and have received a "Coping with Cancer North East" plastic bag through the door on four occasions. Each time I have called their office to ask what services they provide in this part of the world and have been told that if anyone did request help they would provide telephone support, but to date nobody has made the request. I was told that they provide complementary therapies (reiki, acupuncture) in a number of hospitals in the north east, but nothing in Scotland. When I asked whether it was appropriate for their organisation to take away resources that might be available for charities that do provide actual support in this area, the woman put down the phone.
I have contacted the Charities Commission and have been told that Coping with Cancer's actions are legal. Legal they might be, but I questions their ethics. - D gilbertNumber Unobtainable.
Found abandoned rucksack of collection bags under a bush in my private back garden.
They were for 'coping with cancer North East' - T&m| 1 replyWorth passing to the Police.
- Realist replies to T&mThe number is unobtainable and they are bogus. Police informed and Trading Standards, they are going to patrol my area to hopefully catch the collectors.
- p chapmanif you check this firm amount given is not feasible as £5000 per month min does not add up the name is not on web site it is another name
- Caller: bag through door again
- Concerned replies to SarahA similar experience However, the company registration number refers to Unicare Limited which is NOT registered with Companies House, so the registration number appears to be fake. Retexa is also not the name on my bag, so I also find this suspect. All in all, I would be hesitant to provide any items. There are many other genuine charities on the High Street.
